'M1 Pro' and 'M1 Max' Chip Names Appear in App Log Ahead of Monday's Apple Event

You are not understanding my post AT ALL. What you say is EXACTLY WHAT I am saying. Apple doesn't need to add to confusion. Users won't need to know if Pro is better than Max or if Max is better than Pro. Just say:

M1 8 Core CPU 8 Core GPU
M1 16 Core CPU 12 Core GPU

Hmmmm... Which one is better? The bigger numbers!

Instead of saying M1 Pro and M1 Max.

But neither say how many performance cores they have and that's what I'd want to know.
 
So I presume it’s going to be…

MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro - $1799
MacBook Pro 14 M1 Max - $1999
MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro - $2399
MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max - $2799

I am hoping some sort of reduction in the prices but I can’t see it.

Wait why is the Pro model cheaper than the Max? Is Max is the Pro Max you are referring too?
 
The Apple unleashed event which is set for tomorrow will be extremely expensive for many of us.

I do not see why this has to follow. Product naming does not have anything to do with the underlying product technology. In other words, Apple might decide to call it "M1 Pro" have a consistent naming scheme, but this does not mean at all that it has to be based on the same technology as M1 itself. Should this naming is confirmed, there is a lot of reason to assume that they are going to do consumer-related events in spring (with new M series) and pro-related events in the autumn (M Pro series). It would be very odd for them to start with an "M2 Pro" before there was even an "M1 Pro" and before there is an "M2". Instead, "Mx" followed by "Mx Pro" sounds more consistent. But the chip technology itself might be very different.

I'll take one of each please.

M1 Pro for my MacBook.

M1 Max for my desktop Mac Mini.
 
I guess we will all find out in less than 24 hours. I don't care what they call the chip just as long as it is blazing fast and that I can order a new MBP asap. Been waiting for a year for this puppy to come out.
