M2? Is it finally running the same OS as the M2 Macs? otherwise a almost useless giant iPhone.

Apple's decision to bring a landscape FaceTime camera to the entry-level iPad in the same update cycle as the iPad Pro, while not bringing it to the iPad Pro, is sure to be intriguing for some customers.
At its price, the iPad Pro should come with both landscape and portrait FaceTime cameras.

I use my 2018 iPad Pro in a Logitech keyboard case and would even appreciate the portrait camera being on the right ratehr than the left. When I am holding it, I tend to do so in my left hand - and all too often obscure the camera's view of my face.

Looking at the iPhone 14 and M2 iPad Pro announcements, one could conclude we have a NEW form of upgrade cycles in motion here, not just the "supply chain excuse" we keep getting. New models come out, two years of iterations to snag "new" customers and/or a few upgraders with specific needs (ie - pencil hover) then every third year a NEW model. This also fits closely with the CEO's DNA - maximize return on existing parts (more M1 chips than A15) and/or inventory pile-ups (Pencil 1).

So I'll be like all the other leakers (guessers) and stake the high ground for 2023 with an iPhone 15 Pro Max with either periscope or liquid lens zoom of 6x AND an iPad Pro with M3, OLED, and a near MacOS-like operating system running subsets of MacOS software...think Final Cut/Logic-Lite, Office-Lite, Adobe CC-Lite, etc...

Until iPadOS is significantly upgraded, I see no need to update from my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro yet.
Agree. The 2018 12.9” iPad Pro is an outstanding device. One note - the M1 (or M2) device will support Stage Manager running on an external monitor full screen when it comes out, if that matters. I tested that when in beta, before Apple pulled that feature, and it was pretty useful and allowed the windowing of Stage Manager to spread out and work much better.
