More likely the Mac Pro is the one to be released.Considering how delayed manufacturing is, it’s as you mentioned just the wrong time to promote any new hardware.

There are several theories on how both could be correct. It seems that the M2 is really going to be just a slightly tweaked M1 with the same production process rather than the next gen cores and production process people originally thought it was going to be. Remember Apple can name it whatever they want. But but but...twitter account KUO said the next Macbook air will come with M1
I think Kuo retired from this, and his child made a twitter account and tried to do his father leaks but without any real background and sources![]()
This simply is not true. They don’t always demo hardware but they have several times in the past. Coincidentally, almost all the instances of hardware reveals at WWDC have been related to the “pro” product lines.Sorry, software only. Must we every year with this?
Agreed. A true M2 would be based of the new core architecture, not an incremental upgrade. There are several theories on how both could be correct. Hardware was released mostly due to the fact that in the past Apple revealed important stuff in either Macworld or WWDC. However, after leaving Macworld, Apple has now press events like the iPhone/Watch in September timeframe and Mac events in October timeframe. This simply is not true. I would say there is almost no chance a new MacBook Air is revealed at WWDC 2022. It will be a reveal for the Mac Pro w/ Apple Silicon if they have hardware at all.
Macrumors is click bait at this point.
Apple may unveil new Mac hardware at WWDC this year, with the redesigned MacBook Air being the most likely potential hardware announcement, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In today's "Power On" newsletter, Gurman explained his expectations for potential Apple hardware announcements at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
Signs of "realityOS," the long-rumored operating system believed to run on Apple's mixed-reality headset, were spotted in Apple source code earlier this year and there has been growing enthusiasm about Apple's AR and VR project finally "approaching liftoff" for launch this year. Rumors of Apple announcing its headset sooner rather than later were stoked earlier today when a trademark for "realityOS" surfaced, with a foreign filing date deadline of June 8, 2022, just two days after the main WWDC keynote. Despite these rumors, Gurman is wary of "a full-blown" announcement of Apple's headset at WWDC:Gurman previously reported that the launch of the headset will likely be delayed until 2023 following a plethora of development problems, including issues with overheating from at least one chip on par with the M1 Pro, as well as camera and software challenges.
Mac-related announcements are reportedly more likely at WWDC this year, should Apple unveil any new hardware, according to Gurman. He believes that Apple planned to launch a new MacBook Air model with the M2 chip at WWDC this year, but supply chain issues seem to have complicated the timeline:Beyond any potential hardware announcements, major new software updates for Apple's devices, including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS 13, are expected to be previewed at WWDC on Monday, June 6.

Apple has revealed hardware at WWDC 4 or maybe 5 times in the last decade…Hardware was released mostly due to the fact that in the past Apple revealed important stuff in either Macworld or WWDC. I’m sorry but the notch will be staying. Apple added the notch on the recent MacBook 💻 Pro 14”, 16” line up and it doesn’t even have the Face-ID. I guess Apple loves the notch.
Would you prefer the pill-shape factor on a MacBook?
Not always, and I am not talking about the last decade. I am talking since early 2000s.Apple has revealed hardware at WWDC 4 or maybe 5 times in the last decade…
I don’t know why people regurgitate this line as a truism that is simply not universal. Apple does not always reveal hardware at WWDC but it is not uncommon for Apple to do so. When they do reveal hardware at WWDC, it is almost always a “pro” product.
What about the Mac Pro? That still needs to be refreshed.
Don’t forget about Mac Mini. What about the Mac Pro? That still needs to be refreshed.
Apple needs to finish their transition and the last remaining hold out is the Mac Pro. Get that before the Mini; people keep forgetting that there is a transition and forget of the other devices pending...Don’t forget about Mac Mini.
If they come in colors a la iMac, then I'd say it's a strong possibility.I hope the new MacBook Air does not have a white keyboard. You can wash your hands until your fingerprints are eradicated, and damn white keys will still end up filthy.

True, it doesn't make sense for 2nd gen M releases while MacPro is still in the intel worldWhat about the Mac Pro? That still needs to be refreshed.
False.Hardware was released mostly due to the fact that in the past Apple revealed important stuff in either Macworld or WWDC. However, after leaving Macworld, Apple has now press events like the iPhone/Watch in September timeframe and Mac events in October timeframe.
Explain the 2012 MacBook Air, the 2013 MacBook Air, and the 2017 MacBook Air, all introduced at WWDC.This simply is not true. They don’t always demo hardware but they have several times in the past. If not at least a preview of their progress.More likely the Mac Pro is the one to be released.
Its possible that that they moved some of the production of the m1 to m2(or whatever they call it) so they can start building up supply... but yeah generally it seems like hardware they announce at wwdc is usually either in a new category to get developers interested in supporting it, or its hardware developers would be interested in. Don't really feel like a new Air would fall into those categories. They can’t even ship last years Pro before August. Why would they announce a new Air with orders they probably can’t fulfill
