My iWork '09 install won't recognise either. I've logged out and restarted, but nothing yet. I do have, however, third-party apps (Coda, RapidWeaver etc.) recognised as being installed.

Appls Not Showing Up

I noticed that TextWrangler was not showing up as "installed" in the Mac App Store. I checked the version numbers. The Mac App Store is correct. The Mac App Store has a later version of TextWrangler that was not installed on my computer. Since it is free, I just shrugged my shoulders and "purchased" it from the Mac App Store. That had the effect of updating TextWrangler. It now shows as installed, and that means that the Mac App Store can update it.

However, iWork doesn't show as "installed" in the Mac App Store, and since that is not free, I'm not going to run the risk of repurchasing it. I'll just put up with that until they release the next major version.

It's for "Personal, non-commercial use only", so unless you want to do it illegally, you'll have to find another way.

So the AppStore will automagically downgrade my retail version of Aperture 3 to the "personal use only AppStore" version when it detects it...?

Kind of bummed that I paid $199 for Aperture right before Christmas.

i think apple would've made a ton of money if the store had opened on Christmas day. Think about it. Open your new mac, go to the app store and spend!

Ah, the charts are so clean and spam free. How long before we get the following?

Super Babe Mac-Pro HiDef Walpappers!!11
1001 Blonde Jokes!

I had no problem dragging apps to the trash. Maybe they're still running?

See, now Apple has made a fool of me... it worked now. But I swear to you it did *not* work 30 minutes ago. And the app was not still running.

Oh well, just glad it can be done.

People should be aware that these apps purchased from the MAS are for personal use only. If you intend to use them in a professional environment you will still need to buy the full retail versions.

You know this for a fact. Not saying you are wrong, but I read the App Store purchase license agreement and I could not find anything in the agreement that stated the software could not be used in a commercial/professional environment.

Well, now you just spend again...
Or do you think if you buy Numbers, Pages '09 now you will get '11 for free as an updaten... think again...

Quick Update:

Mariner Paperless: fully updated, but App store version is 1.3.1, I only get 1.3.0 not listed as "installed"

DaisyDisk: I have version 1.5.3 App Store is 2.0.3, makes sense that it is not listed as installed. Interesting as version 2 is not listed as available on their own website.

"You may download and use an application from the Mac App Store for personal, non-commercial use on any Apple-branded products running Mac OS X that you own or control."

Nice that it worked out! Maybe it's an Apple plot to drive upsales of harddrives? Un-installable apps, only on the Mac App Store! :D

Recognised Coda as installed, but not other apps like Stuffit Expander. Seems a bit hit and miss, maybe it's the developers fault, maybe it's Apple who knows?

Just to clarify here since a lot of people are confused: This clause only applies to the multiple computer allowed usage. In other words, if you're using it for personal, non-commercial use, you can put it on as many computers as you own. If you are a company, you have to purchase one copy of the app per employee if they want to use it on multiple devices each, or one copy per device if they are shared devices.

This is not saying that the apps can only be used for "personal, non-commercial use." That distinction is key. You absolutely can use the apps purchased through the App Store for commercial use, just not on multiple shared computers.

Kind of bummed that I paid $199 for Aperture right before Christmas.

I paid $299 for the first version of Aperture, $199 for the first upgrade, and $99 for the second upgrade. I'm out $600 for what folks can now get for $79.

But that's not a whine. I got full use out of Aperture for all of this time and it was well worth the $600.

Those of you that "only" spent $199 have nothing to whine about. :)

I've updated all of my apps, but some 3rd party apps show as "Installed", others do not. For instance, Things shows as "installed". Omnigraffle Pro and Delicious Library 2 do not. Confusing.

As far as I can tell you must have the same version of the app installed on your machine as that being sold in MAS for it to be recognised as installed i.e. I have both LittleSnapper and iSale installed which are available on the MAS; however the MAS didn't list either of these apps as being installed. I then ran the LittleSnapper app which informed there was an update available (v1.7 same as being sold in the MAS) which I installed. After installing the LitteSnapper update the MAS listed the app as installed. However, iSale is not listed as installed because the version of iSale on the MAS is 5.7 and the latest version I can download from the net is 5.6.

Hmmm, last time i checked, $199 is more money than $79.

Ah thank you OllyW. I knew you were probably right, but I couldn't find the info in that long App agreement I read through. Oh well. Then again I don't see this as a huge setback for people with marginal ethics, LOL :D

Not saying I agree, but we all know some Apple software users will skirt this license clause.

The mac store will not locate the app if you put it in a folder inside the application pane. It has to be out. This also goes for software updates. In order for the software updater to locate the application it has to be outside of a folder. I wish Apple would update this because every time there is a software update I have to take the app out of the folder to update then put it back in after.

Account issue resolved

thanks for the tip. I could not buy anything so I logged out of my profile and back in, started the App Store and bought Aperture 3 for 44 GBP!

The personal use clause is in the initial terms and conditions that are shown when you download your first app. As far as I could see it applies to all the apps in the MAS and I didn't notice anything about "multiple shared computers".

Who really cares about all this iWork, Aperature...blah blah blah .....
THEY HAVE ANGRY BIRDS FOR THE MAC!!!!!!!WOOOOT:D:D:D
