Microsoft Office is way superior to iWork.
Oh man... what other things have you tried? Because I'd rather do all my office work with an abacus, bowie knife, and exceptionally large tree stump than Office. Of all the tools I use to do work, it's easily the most misused, buggy, and loathed batch of software out of the bunch. And that includes Adobe's entire suite.

And in terms of being better than "iWork" (does anyone really still call it that? Apple sure doesn't), my question would be "what are you trying to do?" Because I can think of a few common tasks off the top of my head that Apple's software is just better at.

Unfortunately I’ve offset that +1 Surface purchase by hurling mine out of a second story window. Really enjoying my Mac mini. :)
The new Mini is my jam. The fact that it took so long to get a refresh still irks me something fierce, but better late than never, I guess?

In general? LibreOffice, NeoOffice, the Google alternatives among those that still exist and that I can remember. OpenOffice and StarOffice are long gone!

I seriously can't find a single issue with Microsoft Office, and I use it extensively every day, from Access, to Excel (including Macros), Word, Powerpoint, OneNote etc., for pretty serious stuff. Not an issue (on Windows 10).

Yes people still call it iWork, so does Apple ( https://www.apple.com/iwork/ ) and so does Wikipedia to describe the entire suite ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IWork )

Yeah it was a long time coming. I wonder if it was on the chopping block in the 2016/2017 timeframe before deciding to keep it around, but repositioning it away from the “switcher” target market.

Hopefully we’ll see an update next year—I expect a two year cadence like iMac/iMac Pro/MBA—but Intel. I think @Zdigital2015 has been tracking the release schedule of the new 65W S-series but I can’t remember their projected release. Should see 8- and 10-core(?) if it’s on 10nm.

I mean.... I absolutely LOVE “dad” jokes & even I threw up in my mouth a little bit.
It’s bad, right? Like really, really bad?
Like really, really, really bad.

I wonder if Microsoft has taken their advertising in-house? Seems like something some marketing folks thought up and decided was super clever

I like MacBooks, don’t get me wrong, but I haven’t used one as a primary computer in ages. You don’t really have a choice when the primary applications you need to use, other than Office, don’t run on Macs.

All I can really say is I'm glad I don't work in your office.

Hahaha, JFC ...

*whew*

Yeah, when I'm done with this next round of travel, I'm handing over my 15 MBP to the wife and moving to a '18 MM i7 (or possible converting her over to ipad Pro + display + KB/mouse depending on how the particulars of the next iPadOS update).

This desperation says a lot

macOS can run M Office...so the basics, the foundation are far better

Agreed. I'd run Office Suite on a Mac over a PC any day. But the software. Word kills Pages. I've never seen anyone use Numbers in the wild, in a business setting. Keynote blows PowerPoint out of the water, but it's the only one. To Do slays Reminders in pretty much every way.

Hate to admit it, but with the exception of Keynote, I turn to M$ anytime I want to do work that is essential to my income.

/but I do that work on a Mac. ;)

This guy reminds me a bit of the “Dell Dude.”

Cheesy marketing that acknowledges Mac is better but Microsoft will give you reasons to think different.

(See what i did there?)

If Microsoft really want to twist the knife, they should poke fun at the MacBook’s legitimately awful keyboard. I hate this thing so much. It’s failing, gummed up keys make typing a painful chore and I can’t wait for Apple to redesign it.

To be fair, Reminders isn't really an apples-to-apples comparison with Todo. Todo kinda sucks. I prefer Todoist. Even Wunderlist is still better than Todo. Now on the office suite, you are completely correct. I use them all and really, really like Onenote over the competition especially on my iPad, Mac desktop, and iPhone. ;)

Teehee. I find people are very passionate about their task managers. :) I bow to you on that one, even though I've never used it. I'm sure there's lots of better options, but if Todo comes with the Office 365 sub, then in my view why not use it instead of forking over another sub, or buying Things?
