I had upgraded to 10.13.4 and had not used duet for some time, so it hung up for some time today before I expected something was wrong. Went to duet website and downloaded the Mac version (2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar). The webpage did not indicate the version (or that there had been issues) and the downloaded version is 1.7.1.2. The iPad app is version 1.6.0. It does work as a 2nd display with the Airplay Display set to Duet-iOS. However, the iPad does not display as well as I remember. In landscape position the iPad is black for about the lower 20% of the screen. I recall that previously the full iPad screen (I have the 9.7 inch version from 2016) was used for the display. A screen shot of the iPad display is shown below. The Touch Bar option is selected. Will future updates use the full iPad screen? Maybe a bit more patience?

I am having this same exact issue. I'm on 10.13.4 running Duet Display iOS 1.6.2 on the 9.7" iPad (6th gen). There is no other issue with the connection, just the black bar along the bottom of the screen taking up ~20% of the screen's height.

Yeah, I have that too. The blank area at the bottom of the screen is for the virtual touch bar you can enable by clicking on the Duet icon > iPad Touch Bar Enabled. Before if you had the touch bar enabled the bottom of the screen was covered up, which was really annoying when working with programs in full-screen mode. However, I do wish that it was smart enough to use the whole screen when the touch bar is disabled.
TLDR: The space at the bottom of the screen is a feature, not a bug, but a feature that could use a little more thought.

Does anyone know if there is any fix to use Duet again with the iPad's full screen resolution over USB (as it used to work before Apple broke it in 10.13.4) rather than using the simply awful AirPlay Display option?

I am beyond infuriated with this - it's the only way I can use a certain system with the job I do on the go, and it doesn't work using the 720p or 1080p AirPlay options - I need the full resolution of the iPad.

Just drop them a letter and they will provide a link to the most updated version of the app.

The version 1.7.1.7 finally uses the whole iPad display (along with MacOS 10.13.5). If you are interested in the latest version - drop a letter to the Duet team.

Managed to get 1.7.1.7. It does now fill the whole screen, but only in the lowest possible resolution - and the performance is still laggy as all hell - and is definitely not up to playing any kind of video/moving image.

This is a real shame for me, as it's one of the reasons I bought the iPad Pro in the first place - and the fact it worked flawlessly until Apple decided to change their display settings...

What computer are you running Duet on? Apparently, your computer's horsepower plays a big roll in Duet performance.

I gave up duet for a while - but recently decided to give it a second try - kind of complicated to install again - even though a previous version was already installed.

Grabbed the latest version for the mac - 2.0.6.0
iOS Version on iPad Pro 12.9 - 2.1.3

It's kind of the odd that you have to approve the app "Rahul Dewan" - couldn't they use "Duet" so users understand what they are approving?

Took a while to search the internet and find out if "Rahul Dewan" was connected to Duet (Developer?)

Pro's - Duet does seem to work much better than the last time I tried it, and the iPad 12.9 can work as a 3rd display on my rMBP 15" with a 32 lg screen also connected so that is pretty cool :)

Con - Duet seems to have created a longer start up / boot time on my MBP - almost 2 times as ,long as it used to be which used to be about 15 sec - now about 30 - 40 seconds. I was not sure if this was because of Duet so I tried it on a different MBP ( I know  stupid me lol ) and now that MBP is slower to boot as well.

Seems every update there is somet8ing from a third-party that goes wrong more and more.. This could just be a "clever" way for Apple to slowly miss-lead users down the wrong path hoping something will be "fixed", while they constantly work in silent to prevent these in future..

Then they will just flip the switch.

It's no surprise, when out have deprecated API from apps. (not just Apple's own), but others for various reasons they must use them..

It won't be long now.
