I've said this numerous times before and I'll repeat:
There's no need to use "sleep" on a new Mini.
Just put the display to sleep (as distinguished from "computer" sleep), or reach around, turn the display off and walk away.

The difference in power consumption between a "sleeping" and an "awake, but idling" 2020 Mini is negligible, next-to-nothing.

If you're worried about someone accessing the computer when you're away from it, set up a password to unlock the display.
it doesn't/t change anything
the problem is the monitor goes to sleep....not only the Mac mini....only the right sequential (first monitor power on than Mac mini) solve the issue....put the Mac mini in a no sleep state doesn't solve anything. Read please. than answer .....

Already mentioned in a different discussion, but once again:

Can't really explain why, but:

Just got my Samsung C49, hooked it up via TB3->DP Adapter + DP cable (all rated for 8K60Hz) - booted up into macOS - was automatically set to 5120x1440 - only had to switch from 60 to 120Hz in the dropdown menu, didn't do anything else.
After first shutdown behaved a bit flaky, but after setting the DP-Version "down" to 1.2 everything worked nicely (even though 5120x1440@120HZ is supposed to need about 26Gbit and DP 1.2 only delivers about 17Gbit it's working without hiccups...
When set to 60Hz I can also choose HDR in Display settings

This always worked. The issue is relating to using scaled resolutions higher than 3008 pixels wide. The native resolution works on almost all displays.

The DP 1.4 issue is affecting everyone.

I get exactly the same results with my C49 and no adaptors. Just a USB C to DP cable.
Yeah - me too in the meantime - started with adapter + cable since quite a few people were getting nowhere with a single cable - Now I'm also on a direct cable.

Not quite - there are a bunch of people who are only getting native resolution by forcing it via extra software like SwitchresX (sometimes by holding the option key). And still even then, many are bound to the 60Hz instead of 120Hz

I have a LG 49" and can confirm the issue with the scaled resoutions. I can get the Native 5120 x 1440 using either USB-C or DP, both in either 1.2 or 1.4. HDR only works in the higher version of each.
But yes, still waiting to be able to do 3840x1080 on the M1 Mac Mini. I can also confirm when hooked up to a iMac Pro i can get the 3840x1080 resolution running Catalina. So it's something that needs to be fixed with Big Sur.

Are there options in the Ultrawide space larger than 40" that have a PPI of 200+?
Nope. Which is why I don't have one.

I make do with my iMac display and the UltraFine's from LG until something better finally comes along.

Got it. Thanks!

Like many on here i resorted to SwitchResX. For newbies, i made a video to talk folks through it:
hopefully it helps.

Thanks.

Apologies - But from watching the video I am unsure what the fix is? SwitchResX doesn't allow injection of new resolutions on the M1. The SwitchResX stable version is explicitly not working on M1 and the Beta version is very limited functionality.

Was there something I missed in the video?

Dear friends,

today I upgraded my Samsung's firmware to Version 1007.2 - immediately lost all issues. Screen wakes up as intended even when running 5120x1440 @ 120Hz @ DP 1.4. For fun 5120x1440@100Hz@ DP1.4 WITH HDR works as well ! Firmware-Upgrade taken from here:

Hope it works in general

Wonderful to hear! Do you have any issues with blurry text, or anything of that sort?

Thank you!
