Tiny screws may be a problem for those who want to swap out or add ram.

The good news is the round black disk allows easy access to the ram. No need to remove screws. Much better than the older design where you would have to use a putty knife to open the case. That was a pain.

Agreed. I think we can finally say goodbye to :apple:TV

The thing is, I keep seeing movies in iTunes that say, "Also available in HD on the Apple TV." So, for now, if you want to rent a movie in HD from iTunes, many (all?) are only available on the Apple TV.

Even tho I'm not interested in this mini, I'm a bit pissed off for the unjustified £150 extra. Is going to catch the MacBook soon.

The white macbook will be gone. it will be iPod Touch, iPad (this will replace either Macbook Air or Cheap Macbook), Macbook Pro Low end, Macbook Pro, iMac and Mac Pro.

A Multitouch keyboard is in the works and soon iOS will be blend to Mac OS X. Follow the dots, Apple will change in 5 years so drastically that your Apple products of today will be obsolete as the ATARI of today.

Something in common

So now it has the same H+V dimensions as the AirPort Extreme, iTV and Time Capsule. Each is 7.7" square which may be helpful when building out cabinets and automobile mods.

Correction: Time Capsule is actually 6.5" square. Other two are same dimensions.

Gotta love iFixit. I made some teardowns, and repair guides, and bought tools from them. My bro purchased a HD from them on Thursday, and got it Monday, even with the slowest shipping. Thats all the way from CA to MA.

Now that I see that they made is WIDER and LONGER, it is no longer so impressive that they made it shorter. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the volume taken up by the new Mac Mini is greater than that of the old one. But regardless, it looks much nicer IMO.

Very tempting to get, but I want Blu-ray in my HTPC and Core i3/i5 processors first. Maybe the next update?

I have a feeling that Apple doesn't want to support Blu-ray because slot-loading Blu-ray drives are a rarity right now, if they even exist.

I swear at the rate his thin obsession is going, Steve Jobs will be selling computers laptops and telephones that are 600ft across, 400 ft long, and the selling point will be 'but it's only 0.004mm thin - amazingly thin'

Stop it Steve. Just stop it. There is more than 1 dimension to this world.

That computer is NOT worth $700. It's just not.

I nearly paid that much for the first 16GB iPhone. The Mac mini has much more power and can drive a larger display (but doesn't make phone calls).

Obviously every Apple product is not for everyone. The $999 Mac mini server with dual 500MB 7200 RPM hard drives is quite a value for a small enterprise.

what is plex?
really? oh man...

There are plenty guides and stuff on their site and even inside plex.I'll tell you 1 thing,it's not a super-easy-to-set-up first time.but once done,it's uber-mediacentre

Yes. You can start this what it is and how does it work, please.
It's a replacement for Front Row. You control it with the Remote. It has more features and is more configurable, and it plays various video formats like DivX, MKV etc without the need for codecs like Perian.

i ****ed up with thumbnails, lol.anyway if u need any help on setup just pm.btw they are working on entirely new version which is super-intuitive.

The new Mac-Mini looks amazing, but I'm disappointed to see thats its even more expensive now =/, Does Apple know what budget means?? I don't understand why we don't see an entry level mac for under $500.. $700USD is not affordable for what your getting.. If this thing was priced at $500 I would actually consider getting it..

Really nice design but the sharp rise in price in the UK for nothing other than a new design and better graphics does make it look like very poor value.

Choose the 2.66Ghz option, 4GB of RAM and the 500GB hard drive (very reasonable for a desktop computer) and you hit £932.01. £36.99 extra would buy you a 21.5" iMac with a 15% faster CPU, same RAM, same HDD, slightly poorer graphics but an LED IPS high res screen, mouse and keyboard all to boot. Hell, if you add the magic mouse and keyboard to the Mac Mini's spec then the 21.5" iMac comes out at £48.01 cheaper.

As nice as the new Mac Mini design is, the £649 model should have been £449 at the most.
 It seems like you're missing the point. Yeah, it's more expensive, so does laptops versus desktops, or any SFF desktop versus their larger desktop counterpart. I mean it's like saying the $500 iPad is too expensive because you can get a $500 quad-core desktop.

Doesn't look hard to take apart. I'm happy with my current mini though so not in the plans yet

jobs said he believe in streaming content, not useless polycarbonate.
imho-blu ray rocks.super quality compared to sh177y 720p itunes quality.especially if u have a nice big tv.on 24" or 27" from 2 meters 720p or 1080p are the same
