they do, it's called 'connect 360'
Thanks. Yeah, I just got it the other day but I haven't tested anything out so far. I too am on the fence with the mini. Although I'm having way too much fun and enjoying my computing as a fairly new mac user, I also want to expand that experience with a mac mini. I'm just going to wait it out and see what's new in the works. My poor single core pc. I built it from scratch four years ago and now it doesn't get that much play. I tell you what though, once I get the mac mini going as my main media center, I think I'm going to put windows to rest and go with linux on my dinosaur.

It's about time they removed the "New" from MB/MBP.

The "NEW" iMac -- LOOK it's Aluminum, and you can get a fancy new Core 2 Duo (mobile, yet) with that!!! still, it's the NEW iMac!! (aren't we due for an update....heck quadcore is the standard on the PC side now, and you can get a consumer PC with quadcore for alot cheaper than a new iMac.

It won't be long before the iMac and the Mac Mini are sporting the tag "New".

Hopefully it comes out this tuesday... im getting really impatient!!!
I don't know about this Tue....
Apple, Inc has a lot going on at the moment. Next big issue will be record breaking sales and profits for the quarter to be announced within 3 weeks.
After that, comes the Mini upgrade in June as welll as WWDC and the iPhone 2.0. Watch for iMac updates in August.
The stock will soar above $200, and we all will be happy.

We're Waiting...

My sister is waiting for the updated Mac Mini so she can buy one and dump her aging PC. This will be her first :apple:Mac:apple: ever! And we're waiting for the updated Mac Mini so we can buy our second Mac Mini. We all hope it will be real soon.

I always wonder - why not a MacBook?

A MacBook makes a great desktop brain... this pic shows mine driving the HP 24" LP2465 and also on itself, but most of the time, I keep the MacBook closed and just use it as a brain driving my 24" HP. Works superbly AND doubles as a handy mobile unit when I want to move the party to the sofa, bed, or Starbucks! ;-)

Thats a very nice setup you have.

I'm thinking seriously about going this route.I already have a C2D mini, but I need something portable, and with wireless N.Do you think the MacBook could run a 30" monitor? If they ever get cheaper in the future I would love to get one.

The current model cannot drive a 30" unit. Maximum supported resolution is 1920x1200 and it lacks the dual-DVI necessary. It remains to be seen if the refresh said to be coming in Q3 will be able to. This is why I am moving from a MacBook to a MacBook Pro - I am going to move to a 30" and the MBP can drive it.

Exactly! It's a more portable, more powerful Mac Mini! (and this is going to be my setup in a few months, only replace the MB with an MBP, and the Intuos / HP with a Cintiq :D)

Thanks for the information..............if thats the case I'll be getting a MBP sometime this summer.

macmini

The iMac is very flawed for a lot of corporate work. I use 4 flat panels working off of one Dell at work. Clearly, the iMac is not designed for multiple screens. A decent mac mini that could run multiple screens could be excellent for the corporate environment. The 40 pound Mac Pro is definately not the answer either. If apple wants to seriously crack the corporate market, they better realize that people want to swap out screens and also use multiple screens and that putting the guts of computer into the screen makes that very undesirable. Maybe they should hire me in corporate strategy.

My god, what a beautiful setup you have there, not to mention the photo itself screams professionalism. Nice work, I love it! Now you've got me thinking of getting a lamp like that. Nice ambiance. Maybe thats just the thing I need to help with my own creative work :D

iMacs can run a secondary screen, and portables can run a screen in addition to their built in screen as well. It's only Mac Mini that can't...even though it shares comparable GPUS with portables... but then, it does offer a fullsize DVI port, something even the iMac doesn't.

I dunno, I guess driving two+ displays is a "tick in the box" reserved for Mac Pro's featurelist only....
