the gps info on the first photo in the thread list the location as the middle of the "Philippine Sea" not on dry land at all so they must have been taken on a ship or submarine ;)

My US up-to-date order is no longer able to be cancelled... the "cancel items" link is grayed out in my order status.

It seems mine has gone to "Prepared or Shipment" I am in Clifton Hill, Australia. It still says Ships: September though. Dont know what apple is doing.

It seems so many of us have different dates etc, I don't think Apple now what the hell they are doing at the minute.

If you have problems with the up-to-date preorder, go to

http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
(US store)

or insert your country code before /macosx
(Example: http://www.apple.com/de/macosx/uptodate/ or http://www.apple.com/fr/macosx/uptodate/)

There are two columns under "Hardware Up-To-Date", the left one is for people who ordered directly from Apple.com and the right hand one is for other retailers. If one of the links there don't work, try the other one. If you ordered your Mac from a college network for instance, chances are you need to use the "retailer" link on the right because your school network might offer some discounts and then relay to the apple store with different prices.

I'm assuming that the reason everyone want to know the build number is to make sure they are downloading the most recent torrent. Why else would it be? If you were a developer, you would already know the final release.

No you wouldn't. I've been an ADC membership for years, and Apple rarely has told us which build was GM until after the formal announcement. In fact, one OS release (I think maybe it was Tiger) they didn't tell us the build we had for weeks was the GM until the launch date. At the time, everyone thought Apple was going to seed another build that was the GM. They didn't end up doing that.

Compared to other developer programs like MSDN, ADC is very secretive. Apple gets away with just telling you enough information. Whereas, Microsoft bombards you with information whether or not you actually want or need it.

I highly doubt the coders at Apple or MS, or any commercial coders would be able to work under the types of constraints that top level government programmers must operate under.

If the work conditions at Apple are anything like what was presented in 'Pirates of Silicon Valley,' their programmers may stand a chance.

Now that some people with September ship dates are prepared for shipment, am i the only one that's still 'Not yet shipped'?

Are you able to cancel your order or is "cancel items" grayed out like mine is? This just changed this morning but still says, "Not Yet Shipped".

Alright,

Here's the deal... Peopl expect to get their Snow Leopard on the 28th of THIS month right? That's the general idea if you read through your comments.

So, do the math... If Apple has released data on certain sites and order saying Shipped on or about the 28th and those who's order is now September, it's pretty obvious that the last three days of the month can't be met due to high demand on stocking up well at the Apple store.

Apple wants to see an iPod like effect, where people line up for blocks on end, to get their hands on the new OS. THAT effect works ten times better than an advert ever will and it shows to Microsoft that the devoted followers and would be followers will be influenced by this phenomenon. Thus they focus on making sure that each and EVERY store can meet the demand come the release on the 28th.

So, for those who got in on time to order their SL, they'll get it on the 28th or 29th. Some might get it on the 27th even. The delivery is calculated so they all get it around the launch date. Anyone else won't make this months delivery because of that little thing called AMAZON PRE ORDER. All who ordered and there's quite a lot, will be prioritized once more to make sure that they will get their DVDs on time as well.

That's all really... if it says September it's because you are on a long list of people who've ordered the OS and your turn will come. From what I understand, the factory is working overtime to ensure that they meet the quantity they'll need to get it out as soon as possible.

The delivery for anyone from now till September probably looks something like this : Order today and expect it sometime between now and the 10th of September.

After the buzz online, even more people pre-ordered the new OS.

This is good people, that means that there are so many new OS users all buying on the same day that Apple will have this release televised again as they did when the iPhone launched. Good exposure... now lets hope that they can live up to the hype and someone can finally settle the biggest question here... WHAT IS THE FINAL GM Build number?

;)

Each of you who ordered one has one somewhere with your name on it. ;)

So when is Apple gonna tell us Limies how much Snow Leopard will set us back? I know the Up-To-Date DVD price, but howsabout the standalone price?

FWIW items can remain in "prepared for shipment" for days before they ship. Heck, my iPod 3GS was in that status for a week. Similarly, items "Not Yet Shipped," can go to "prepared for shipment" to "shipped" in a matter of hours.

So don't get hung up on the shipping status on pre-orders -- especially ones that don't have a street date yet. Apple has the logistics finely tuned and everyone gets product around the same time regardless.

another shot, with conflicting angle on the font. the blue represents the larger fonts angle (ahem, angle and not perpec), the orange the small letters, where these small letters are is the issue.

Who's to say the CD was shot laying flat and from straight up over it ?

Sorry, but Perspective owns you.

Doesn't Apple routinely just substitute the $ sign for a £ sign and call it a day? OTOH if they price it the same as in the US it would be around £20 including VAT. (This is for the 10.5 to 10.6 update. I assume the full copy will be priced the same as now).
