Looks like we will have this by the end of the week.

No the licence still isnt valid, you are agreeing under US law as stated by the agreement, not german law.

No Im not American, nor do I live any where near America
No, anything agreed only on the basis on US laws is valid only under the jurisdiction of United States (a.k.a not in Europe).

Not sure about the 'buggy' status of SL but to add my 2c I have installed the 'GM' build and now have no internet connection in SL :/

Scroll down to where it says "Hardware Up-To-Date" then you should see some bullet points on the left and right side of the screen. On the left is if you bought it online and the right is if ou bought it in a store. Click whichever applies to you then follow the instructions from there.

I go to http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/...the since I'm from the US, I scroll down to Hardware Up-To-Date then US Customers...it takes me to a log in screen when I put in my email and password for my account. Then it takes me to a page that says Apple Store cart: Items in Cart: There are no items in your cart, with a blue button that says "Continue Shopping"

Have others been able to pre-order doing what I've described? I'd sure like to order it now.

Hey, I don't have time to read any of your posts. Does anyone know what the build is on this release?

I can confirm!

I called Apple on Friday!

My MBP which is going to be delivered tomorrow or tuesday, although estimated delivery date is 28th, is shipped with OS X Snow Leopard pre-installed.
They confirmed it.
And I am getting some days before the wast majority:3

I ordered my MBP 10th of August.

So jealous its not funny...it has to be coming on the 28th now.

Wouldn't be surprised if apple waited until tuesday to announce though.

I guess you can tell us your build number on Monday or Tuesday then. That would be really nice, to finally know which one is Gold Master :)

Better make sure your camera is charged. We'll want to see pics. ;)

If you operate in Germany, you do so following German law, not American. No agreement changes this, despite Apple's attempts to claim otherwise. You cannot waive certain statutory rights in this way.

Can someone PLEASE answer me this?

I downloaded the so called golden master to test it out (I will buy it), and OpenGL in Xbench is much slower and quite a few apps aren't quite ready for prime time, so, do you think Xbench is just not accurate or what?

FWIW, in Geek bench, it takes a 2.4 MB pro and brings it to the 2.8 specs in 64 bit, for me, it's all about FPU which is needed for AUDIO PLUG INS.

If you want to know which OS is better for audio plug ins, just do a clean install of every OS in question on a new partition, preferrably on the same internal hard drive. Then install your audio software on every system using the same parameters and order of installation. This way, you should have meaningful comparisons because the only different things are the OS. Now load a project you couldn't play back reliably because there are too many real time effects onto a different hard drive than the system (much better performance because of seek time, bandwidth, etc.) and delete tracks or disable effects until the system can play it back smoothly. Once you got there, save the project and reboot in the other OS. If you can play the same project back as smoothly as before, or even put more effects and tracks back in, than this is the OS you will want to use for your realtime audio stuff. Don't forget software instruments, although I suspect Snow Leopard can handle more because it leaves you with more available RAM.

Also fiddle around with latency and buffer sizes in the DAW's settings, trying to optimize it for the different OS. I personally avoid using FX plugins on recording tracks because the latency is still noticable and annoying (compression on vocals, etc.), maybe some guitar amp simulation, as guitar players are used to it (normally standing a bit far away from the amp).

I would be very interested in your results too as I don't have a Mac pro and doing this on a Macbook or Mac Mini is pretty complicated.

Well done Apple, for releasing a broken OS. If it's the last build us devs got our hands on then it's broken.

iTunes and Quicktime STILL Crash like buggery.
and there are some other bugs here and there.

No way is it final. This, in my opinion, is a rushed release. bad on Apple.

Prove they just don't give a **** like they use too.
The Magic of Apple has gone!!

You must be kidding. The most recent build (10A432) is incredibly stable, I daresay more than Leopard...who put your knickers in a knot dude?

I have a lot of problems in Leopard recently, it often does not respond at all, only the mouse mointer can be moved. Probably network related thing which I hope Snow Leopard handles better.

Umasuki -- what country do you live in?

I'm in the US and I'm debating ordering a new MBP today or on the 29th (personally the latest I can wait to order it). I would much prefer having Snow Leopard preinstalled. I will definitely buy the machine from the Apple Online Store because I want the 15" with matte display.

How long did it take Apple to start shipping preloaded Leopard boxes?

Don't be surprised if it isn't shipped with Snow Leopard. Apple employees tend to be wrong on these types of things. I bet if you called back on Monday, you'd get a different answer. Sorry, don't think it's going to happen, but you are more than welcome to prove me wrong. I'd really love to see it and hope you're right.

the font placing is awkward...

where the fonts are placed is weird, its off centered and skewed, all the info needs to be in the middle, check any install disc....

=P Of course it's going to be skewed. It's a photograph of the disk in a person's hand, not a 2-D scan. So there's obviously going to be depth which offsets your parallel guides.

another shot

another shot, with conflicting angle on the font. the blue represents the larger fonts angle (ahem, angle and not perpec), the orange the small letters, where these small letters are is the issue.

snow leopard is not ready for primetime.

i have been using the GM since they seeded it, i can no longer use clamshell mode, it will freeze and cause monitor issues.

bluetooth and wifi are 5x better supported, no more disconnections and such with my air.

i have random video issues, along with hangs...where the system will randomly freeze.

i tested with 2 macbook airs and a 17" macbook pro, with the same results.

I remind you guys that the iPhone's camera lens is warped so that you see more of a close-up object.
