Ahhh, don't say stuff like that!alexeismertin said:So basically you are saying wait till July 11th - 14th for some update action?
alexeismertin said:Would it be true to say that these are the only realistic update slots before the intel switch for the mini/ibook/powerbook?
Boston Expo July 2005
Paris Expo September 2005
Mac Expo January 2006 (possibly too late at this stage unless intel delayed)
WWDC June 2006 Intel!
alexeismertin said:TS is saying 'Mac mini update not expected soon', so perhaps it will be a Paris Expo update - way too late in my opinion.
Let the thread die in peace (and obscurity)
MacSA said:I think Apple are really stretching out the updates so they can have as few revisions as possible before switching to Intel. I think a mini update is a long way off.
alexeismertin said:This is Macbidouille (www.hardmac.com) report:
Apple has asked media/news networks to be prepared for major announcements and/or new products, to be launched before or on July 7th. Some products should be announced before this date.
If we remember correctly, the last time Apple has given a date to media/news network was for the launch of iPod Photo.
Based on Steve Jobs' announcement during the last WWDC Keynote, the new product(s) to be released will not be a Mac, but rather a revolutionary software and/or hardware.
so not really a mini rev b story.... but hope?
jope76 said:Hmm, maybe it's time to let it go then...
One question though: does the delivery time for Apple products always go up before an update/speed bump, or could a small update happen just like that? I'm new to buying apple computers and don't know how updates usually happen.
xroads42 said:since the PPC1.8 is not on sale anymore i hope that there will be a G5 mini mac.
and i think that is quite possible.
The 1.8GHz PPC was removed, and when you take the tft ( lets say -250/$ for that) and some extras from the imacs away you have a G5 mini mac.
i would expect the following specs:
1,6GHz PowerPC G5 & 1,8GHz PowerPC G5
256MB PC3200 (400MHz) ( but hopefully a second slot for RAM extention )
NVIDIA 5200 64MB
80GB HD
price between 600 - 900 $/
but i think i am dreaming![]()

Imminent Mac mini update?
A MacBidouille reader ordered a Mac mini on the online Apple Store this week and while he was checking his order status today, he noticed that there was the following mention:
MACMINI 1.42GHZ/512/80G/CMD/F
Est. Build On or before 11/07/2005
Replaced with new product
This is usually the mention that appears when there is a new product announcement before the item ordered on the Apple Store is shipped. That may mean that Apple is going to announce an updated line of Mac minis in the coming days.
However the shipment delay of the Mac mini is still on the same business day on the online Apple Store. So maybe it is simply a mistake from Apple. Time will tell.
