This is the time that Apple says that passes before it is shipped. So Apple won´t ship any Minis for the next 7 days...Gary King said:How do you guys all know how long it will take to ship? Have you guys already purchased the Mini and are checking the shipping status of it?
stevep said:I ordered a bog-standard 1.25 mini yesterday (9th) when the site said 'shipping in 24hrs'. Have just received an email from Apple saying :
The demand for the product you ordered has been higher than anticipated.
We are shipping as quickly as possible, but cannot meet the ship date we previously estimated for you. We now expect to ship your order by June 23rd, 2005.
It would be nice to think that they were busy adding lots of bits and pieces to it to bring it up to a rev B, but I'm never that lucky normally.
I actually need it for the 25th June as its to present to a friend as a leaving present (she's an art/design teacher just about to retire). So if it doesn't arrive in time what do you think I should present to her in its place? I was thinking of a real apple with a bite out of it........ Suggestions please.
So waiting, the latest, for this Tuesday is the best option right now for a Mini?shadowmoses said:If new ones are being released next week like i think they are. Apple are not exactly going to explain the delay by telling you that a new mac mini is out next week. They will obviously make a little fib up to stop suspicion and make sure word of a new mini doesnt spread......
I think about 90% that an update will come on tuesday, the other 10% is the chance that there actually are some kind of problems with mac mini production or distribution at the moment.

All depends on how bad you want the updated Mini. I'm waiting for the update whether it comes next Tuesday or next month. I don't think I'm quite convinced that the Rev. B will come next Tuesday, but I'll wait patiently for when it does come.Gary King said:So waiting, the latest, for this Tuesday is the best option right now for a Mini?
Gary King said:If I buy the Mini right now, and there is an update on Tuesday, then don't I get some money back because the update was within a week of my purchase? Isn't that how it goes?
Technically, I can wait years. But I don't want to, in order to get my first Mac. Does that make sense?sk8erboy said:+ its more like.. if their is a price drop in the seven days after your purchase you should get payed the difference between each computer.
+ however you might want to double check if a price drop constitutes as updated rev.
if i were you i would wait .. as long as you can.
It's on sale? Where?zap2 said:i think i'll pick up a rev A mac mini under sales with as edu discount, should be cheap. It will be just to play with.

Why???? powerbook and mac mini have so little in common. Mini a starting mac for a window user. PB a fast laptop for a pro user. Out of all the macs they have the least in commonMaxiseller said:I'm really not sure that a Mac Mini update is in the works.
Dont forget, it's not that Apple can't push out better systems, its the fact that they wouldn't fit into the current lineup. The powerbook as it stands certainly isn't "up to date" in terms of technology - and upgrading a Mac Mini would push it dangerously close to being in the same league of processing power as the Powerbook. Obviously this cannot happen.
Gary King said:I'm thinking of getting the 1.25 ghz Mini, and will be purchasing a 1 GB of RAM separately and installing that myself.
I basically want the Mini ASAP. Of course, I also don't want to feel like an idiot or feel depressed if an update takes place within, say, the next day of my purchase and I don't get the updated version.
Summary:
- I want the Mini ASAP (example: but if waiting a day saves me $50, then I'll wait)
- if an update takes place more than a week after I purchase my Mini, then that's OK
Do you guys even have any actual proof that the Mini has a possibility of getting an update, besides the 'feelings' that you guys have?
If the shipping times published on Apples UK web site are anything to go by, I would say that only the mini is going to get an update - all the other products are 24hrs and the mini is 1-2 weeks (as of 10.47am GMT).Jope76 - What's the chance of an iBook update the same week as the mini...?
Apples updates always cause products to leapfrog each other - when I bought my current iBook in Nov 04 it was very close to the bottom-end PB in many respects, but when the PB's were updated earlier this year (Jan/Feb?) the gap widened again.Maxiseller - Dont forget, it's not that Apple can't push out better systems, its the fact that they wouldn't fit into the current lineup
Has the shipping time on any mainstream product been so long before, without the product getting an update?shadowmoses said:SHipping time in UK has increased to 1-2 weeks this is for stock models.
