Im sure Apple must have some standard 1.4 minis in the UK, and ram is, well, not so hard to get, although if coming direct from signapore, i guess its possible :)

Im hopng for a GPU upgrade, as im slightly worried it may lag a little running my Dell 2405 at its native res of 1920 x 1200.

Anyway, ive cancelled for now, i can wait a bit...

you're right to be worried. even though the mini does go that high it seems to slow expose, dashboard and general 2d performance when you go over 1600. I saw one in a store hooked to a viewsonic 20" lcd and it was at 1900. saw another in a different store hooked to an older apple 17" lcd and its expose and all 2D was quite fast. those 17" do 1280 btw.. I know a mini owner that has it on a 21" crt. he says it slows over 1600.

my guess and hope is that the mini will be updated soon. I bet the changes will be 1.33 and 1.5 cpu 64mb graphics and 512mb as standard in the higher model.

the apple.com store is showing no delay in shipping at all right now. same day for stock config and 6-8 days for changes to stock.

maybe it really was a lag in production or stock or something that is now fixed.

thoughts on this?

Yup thats a sensible guess i too think that 512mb will only come in the higher model. This is because for the basic user who uses the mini for web browsing, iTunes, chat and e-mail is not going to need more than 256mb. I tried some mini's out today which had 256mb in my local apple store and they seem to run pretty good even with 4 or 5 apps open....

Here in Europe there are 1-2 weeks delay. Why is Apple suddenly out of stock with all Minis almost everywhere at the same time? NB, Mini hasn´t been selling well recently either.

No problem has been fixed. The availabilty of Minis hasn´t been any worse that it is now.

Sounds like a lilkely update, you think they will employ a fully DX9 capable GPU (so it be truely Tiger compatable)?

Is 4200 really that slow? Will it become annoying?

For the average user 4200 will not make much of a difference, I have used ibooks with slow 4200rpm drives and they have functioned fine for most tasks. More advanced users will experience difficulty with the slower drives, but for the market the mini is aimed at it should not be a problem...

I'm still getting 'same business day' on Aus and US stores.
Funny as German/Austrian, Finnish & Swedish stores tell:
Versandfertig in:
1 - 2 Wochen
Ready to ship:
1 - 2 Weeks
Skickas vanligen:
1 - 2 veckor

I guess same would apply on every continental European store. I bet mini Mac reserves in USA are just that much bigger.

PS: If someone at Apple is reading this, please translate the Apple Store page in Finnish. It's bothering me since every other European country gets store site on their native language but finns!

Yea...in Europe it´s still 1-2 weeks and Minis haven´t been top seller for a long time. It´s on the bottom of the top seller list here.

Thus, Apple should have forseen any inventory problems long time ago...if this is just an inventory problem...

My bet is on an update tomorrow because I cannot imagine that Apple in Europe can afford to have no Minis for sale.

We will most probably have a rev B mini this time tommorow...Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Apple in Europe used to state the details about the graphics card as well and now suddenly they don´t. The reason why is obvious, an update is coming within 2 weeks.
