That is the 2.53 GHz Core 2 Extreme with a TDP of 45 W. It is rumored that there will be a 2.27 GHz Core 2 Quad in Q4 with a TDP of 35 W.

And now there's a 13" screen with 1600·900.

So when might quad core be an option in the MBP? Is it likely in this update, or possible, or impossible?

The quad-core is likely to come too late for a September release of the new MacBook Pros. Apple may do a small speed bump early next year and include the quad-core.

However Apple has had a track record of not introducing quad-cores (or octo-cores) with a clock speed lower than existing dual-cores (or quad-cores). Given this, Apple may not introduce quad-core in the MacBook Pros until 2010.

I'm not sure that would be a factor. After all, they did replace the 2.7 DP PowerMac with the 2.5 DC DP version.

I worded my post wrong. Apple can have 2.0 - 2.3 - 2.7 and move up to 2.0 - 2.3 - Quad 2.5. But they don't go to, say, 2.0 - 2.3 - Quad 2.2, as 2.2 is lower than 2.3.

did you also notice how your "gps" put you in a one mile cross eye while the 3g showed your exact location due to real gps?
Theirs did a 1 mile cross too. I was confused, expecting the dot (as in the new ads) but it just did a cross hair.

Hey I'm new to the forum :D
I saw this picture on the official Microsot page and I was wondering if it meant something

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.mspx

As you can see the macbook IS MADE OF ALUMINIUMMM :eek::eek::eek:

Plus the KEYBORD IS WHITE:eek::eek::eek:

Maybe it means something :rolleyes::D:cool:
What you guys think

ALSO the trackpad seems bigger maybe multi touch :D:D:D

Yes, because MICROSOFT would get them early.

It's a normal MacBook under poor lighting. Welcome to the forums, though!

thanks
If it was a normal macbook, why would the keybord be white and the rest grey
I mean I get your point but...
Who knows:rolleyes:

Different lighting conditions. Also note that the MacBook is white at the center of the sides and more silver on the vertices.

:mad:Yeah I think you're right
it would have been nice if it was the alu but still let's wait for the new design

Is it really that time again? Wow.

My MacBook is only getting older.:(

I just bought my daughter a new Mac Book and now one month later its going to be outdated? Oh well. At least we got it cheaper with her school discount and got a free iPod touch with it no charge.

Well, at least you don't have to think about it any more. That's the exact dilemma I have, do I get a free iPod, or do I go for the refreshed version of the MacBook? Right now, it doesn't look like I can have both, but I'm still gonna hold out a little longer...

here's hoping to a durable macbook, I really dont want any more lcd bruises like I get in a macbook pro

an update to the macbook pro keyboard would be nice. its too hard to adjust to after using either a macbook or the wireless keyboard.

Microsoft is known to have poor lighting and bad promotions. <Cough> Vista launch <cough> (Some promotions show vista in the ugly aero basic mode. Why would they show that when they could show what they want people to see, the transparent aero)

I remember seeing a apple notebook and it looked diferent. dont remember where though,,,,

Mac Pro in september?

I know that there is speculation about notebook updates and ipod updates, but what about a Mac Pro Desktop update......anyone know anything?

No sooner than the Tuesday before MacWorld 2009 in January.

But what about the nehalem processors coming out. you don't think they will put that in the new mac pro? I thought they were coming out Q4. If they wait until January then it will be a full year until they last updated it. That seems very odd for apple to wait that long on their mac pro's! I need a new computer for my studio and i don't know whether to buy the mac pro now, or wait until an update?

Buy now. As no one knows if Apple is going to stick with dual processors for the MacPro or move to the 4 processors boards. Plus if Apple does go with the 2 socket board FB-DIMM is going away. Only way to get Nehalem before next year is either go with desktop single socket or dual socket. To stick with FB-DIMM means waiting till next year.

The Nehalem Mac Pros will use Gainestown, not Beckton. Gainestown comes out in late Q4, so we should see new Mac Pros right before MacWorld.

Last year the Penryn Xeons came out in November and Apple waited until the Tuesday before MacWorld to update. They have to have some time to build the things...

Guess what? They waited 518 days to update last time. They don't care.

hahahaha, for some reason that made me laugh. I agree with you. I currently have a crappy Toshiba a200, running Vista. It freezes on me constently, so I can't rely on it for taking notes in class (not to mention the hour long battery >.<). Anyway, I'm sure I can survive without a laptop for not taking, however I'm not sure if I want to. So the question is, but a MBP now, or wait for nehalem.

Edit: I've never even really used a mac before, but that doesn't even phase me.

Even if Nehalem is coming soon-ish won't it take AGES to get to the MBPs?
Late next year, or something.

I'm sure someone else knows better. But Nehalem really does sound waiting for. Or at least buying now then selling for a new one :|

There are multiple variants of Nehalem. Some are coming in late 2008, others are coming in Q3 2009. The notebook variants are coming in Q3 2009.

And it has been said that mobile Nehalem will be on a 32 nm process instead of the previously thought 45 nm process. Although I think that's doubtful, it could be a very big thing, enabling quad-core chips at similar clock speeds and TDPs as current midrange dual-core chips.
