Delayed window updating still is a bad thing

You know what they still haven't fixed (or, I am at least unable to change it to work) is the date stamp of files don't update until I click on the window even if it's already open. I always end up opening the wrong things because windows don't update until you click and by then I've already doubled clicked on the wrong file.

C'mon Apple! Update all open windows automatically!

Nope it wasn't at all, but superficial vain ****s are common around these parts, lots of "I am better then you" attitudes, no matter where ya go there is always an *******..

I think macophiles tend to be pretty protective of Apple's efforts because there's a lot of anti-Apple sentiment without having whackadoo site designers blaming Apple for their poor skills.

Okay I want the standalone installer - anyone care to link to it on their webspace until apple gets it together?

You know you can "download checked items to desktop" via the update menu in software update?

may help...

Point taken, and I digress. Sometimes the attitude gets on my nerves (no its not just restricted to Mac people, not making that comment) I ecounter it way to often and its way too pointless.

On a related note, anyone try this update with MOTU 828mkII hardware?

I'm not a site designer. Further, I've seen this problem on a number of sites, many of them quite big. ESPN loads incorrectly sometimes and I can't get safari to work with MS exchange servers. The lyric site was just an example.

I have a PB and I love apple and I really like safari, but it does have issues.

Yes KHTML still needs a good bit of work in a few areas, but all in all it is pretty compliant. Most of those types of errors are due to the way MS impliments Javascript, and because of their own custom functions (whats new?). Also my appologies for the previous post again, I had a day chock full of hard headed people, sorry for the inflamatory post.

I appreciate the information, but was it really necessary to say the site sucks?

If I was interested in Opera and went to this site where I couldn't navigate at all I would instantly look somewhere else, regardless of the quality of content. The only time I would go there would be if they came up as a high quality link in Google or the like.

So yeah, it sucks. I didn't say you suck, just the site. Nothing personal, not even to the web developer who coded it or the javascript guy who wrote the code the webmaster downloaded... but yeah the site sucks.

FYI: The site is for a company, not a general opera site.

This I can agree with...

An update you may not have seen - Safari is now the default browser. What I mean by this is when you make a new user account, instead of putting IE in the Dock by default, it's now Safari. Someone said that the Dock had been updated, I wonder if this is the only change or if something else has happened too?

So... you would go to the OTHER Lyric Opera House websites????? Um, yeah. It's the official website of the house, I don't think there's too many other places to go for schedules, ticket info, etc.

TVGuide.com recently changed their layout. They fully neglected to support anything but IE browsers. Their listings looked just like the menu on the Oper Lyrics site... all cramped and on top of one another.

I wrote a complaint letter as I'm sure many Mac and Linux users also did...

What do you know, two days later and they (TVguide.com) had changed the layout to a more friendly design. It still doesn't look perfect but I can at least use it now and really that's all I ask.

Hopefully they will do more cross browser testing in the future and get their design looking it's best no matter which browser is viewing it. I would expect the same from any commercial web site which wants me to use their site.

From System/Library/Core Services/Dock/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/default.plist:

Code:
   <dict>
    <key>tile-data</key>
    <dict>
     <key>file-data</key>
     <dict>
      <key>_CFURLString</key>
      <string>/Applications/Safari.app</string>
      <key>_CFURLStringType</key>
      <integer>0</integer>
     </dict>
    </dict>
   </dict>

Finally.

I still wonder why they put Sherlock in (especially as nothing really works in Sherlock here in Europe). :rolleyes:

I don't think it is. And with the news that Panther is probably a month away, I am not risking it. Everything works fine for me now.

It messed up my "Transparent Dock" hack.

I really can't stand that ridiculous white dock background. It's way too noisy. An element that definitely doesn't need to be there.

Thanks for the heads up.
I'm glad I didn't update then. Is the transparent dock something that you can re-apply? Apple should really offer the transparency preference to the dock, as well with other items, example: Like it is in the terminal. I am concerned about this with panther. I won't upgrade until I know the transparent dock works in that.

This update killed of a lot of hacks as you can see. Good. Time to say good bye to our times in Jaguar and move forward... and get newer hacks.

Well, I don't know about you, but I definitely planned on removing hacks and doing a few Disk First Aid checks before I go out and buy and install Panther when it does get released.

mail.app much less stable

I've updated and haven't noticed any changes other than Mail.app has crashed on me 4 times in the last hour.

Is that a feature?

I didn't think I had a need for a feature like that, but maybe Apple knows better than I.

Finally

Finally that clicking is gone!!! I have an iBook and I thought i may have been going crazy. I was never able to figure out what that was. Here's to apple for fixing it!

I haven't noticed anything spectacular about the update yet, but Safri does seem a wee bit quicker, and sites now work, where before the layout was a bit skewed.

I have build 7B68 of Panther burned to discs, but am debating whether or not it's worth it to install. Any thoughts?

What Version Safari

I've installed the new Update.. everything appears fine. No problems on my end.
About Safari says it's version 1.0(v85)
is that correct ? I thought I read somewhere someone ended up with v85.5 ?

I assume you are either an ADC member or have recently received a new AlBook or iMac. If it's the former, you probably know that they renamed 10.2.7 for some reason. (Note that I'm not referring to "10.2.7 (G5)".).

What instability are you seeing with 10.2.8? I would hope there haven't been any regressions from the seeds...

WM (not an ADC member, but my dad's 15" AlBook just shipped!)
