~Shard~ said:Sorry to hear about your bad luck, I'm not sure what the problem might be. All I know is that my 1.25 GHz G4 iMac is perfectly fine, if not faster, after the update, so I doubt it's a G4 issue. (And yes, I know the whole "faster" thing is more psychological than anything...)
I played around some more and found that not only does my x800 make more noise but it looks like I have the universal fan noise problem as well. Double jepoardy! So a complete re-install of Panther seems to be in my future once I return from a business trip this week.Eric5h5 said:Well, here I am back on 10.3.7, and it's not annoying to have my computer on, again. Fan problem fixed. I don't think ATI will or even can fix this problem, since re-installing the X800 drivers over 10.3.8 did nothing...only going back to 10.3.7 worked. So I'll be filing a polite bug report to Apple (though it's not really a bug, is it...more like a misfeature).
Are you aware of the bug with MacAlly's iShock game controller driver that causes Mac OS X 10.3.8 to run out of disk space extremely quickly? You might be experiencing this issue...Perushka said:Since updating, Mail has not been sending messages, and it has also "lost" a few messages in my inbox and sent messages box. Every few minutes my computer tells me that I have no free disk space. The claim was valid, so I freed up 5oomb and I still get the dialog. Also, a get a box telling me that I have too many apps open and that my HD is out of memory, and I will have to force quit a program. This is not good. Tiger better be coming out soon.

The system.log file is probably the one that's far bigger than it should be (I don't remember where it's located, but I'm sure someone has posted about it earlier in this thread. Delete that one and you should regain a significant portion of disk space (one user on another forum reported a system.log over 16 GBChicagoMac said:I am having that exact problem! I deleted the ishock driver, now how do I fix my hard drive? it's completely full except for a a few megs I opened up by deleting some files.

You're 100% correct! I agree with your reasoning - boycotting would hopefully convince these companies to test their products better.Lacero said:Isn't the point of seeds is so developers such as the developer of the iShock can catch these sort of bugs so the unsuspecting public is not burdened with finding these bugs out for themselves; potentially causing a lot of damage? If anything, we should call for a boycott of certain companies that cannot properly test their devices against updated seeds.
