Care to elaborate? Do we need to update manually from the terminal in addition to the update file?

Jim

Updated prebinding for /usr/bin/java.

Still SIGSEGs on startup.

Just reinstalled 2005-002 (Java 1.4.2) update. Restarting now ...

EDIT: Reinstalling Java 1.4.2 worked.

Question: What did 10.3.9 TRY to update with Java that I'm now missing?

Anyone having any problems with Safari and Mail loading/quitting with 10.3.9? My Safari bounces about 20-30 times before it loads. Mail takes about a minute to quit. Anyone experience anything similar?

Safari 1.3 ???

Why is everyone saying that Safari 1.3 is included with this OS X 10.3.9 upgrade?

I installed the Panther 10.3.9 upgrade yesterday and checked "About Safari" and behold, the current version is Safari 1.2.4 (v125.12).

Where are you guys getting Safari 1.3 from?

Also... anyone else notice that GoogleMaps all of a sudden doesn't work properly anymore. Maps will display, but the directions option makes some weird display.

Anyone else?

I should've read this forum before updating this morning.

Apple's installer is too dumb to update Safari in any other folder but the Applications folder. I had Safari in a different partition, and realized the update installed Safari 1.3 into my Applications folder, and left 1.2.4 alone in my Internet partition. So, it is probably in there now. -JB

I never understood why Safari didn't have the ability to save images. Is there a way?

Just drag the image to wherever you want to save it (eg. your desktop).

It seems that updating prebinding doesn't work for everyone, but installing the security update seems to have a 100% success rate. I have now deleted my previous post, since it didn't have accurate information.

I think I solved my safari crash. I noticed something suspicious in the crash log...

0x1000 - 0xccfff com.apple.Safari 1.3 (312) /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
0x426000 - 0x427fff com.presenta.iGetterIMBundle 2.1 /Users/jmyers/Library/InputManagers/iGetterIMBundle/iGetterIMBundle.bundle/Contents/MacOS/iGetterIMBundle
0x430000 - 0x431fff com.presenta.iGetterSafariBundle 2.1 /Users/jmyers/Library/InputManagers/iGetterIMBundle/iGetterIMBundle.bundle/Contents/Resources/iGetterSafariBundle.bundle/Contents/MacOS/iGetterSafariBundle

So I deleted ~/Library/InputManagers/iGetterIMBundle/iGetterIMBundle.bundle , and Safari no longer crashes! Cool!

I hope this helps other people too.....

It helped me, thank you very much!

I can't get my external firewire drive to mount, after installing 10.3.9. My external exclosure is also USB. I plug in a USB cable, drive mounts fine. I thought I saw other people are having the same issue?
When running Software Update, one should NEVER have external FireWire hard drives connected (unless the external FW drive is your boot drive). Eject the FW drive, turn it off and disconnect the FW cable. THEN install your SW updates.

Anyway you may not be completely out of luck. It's possible that your FW drive will appear when you open Disk Utility (with your drive connected via FW, not USB). If it appears in Disk Utility it should be grayed out. Select it and then click "Mount."

Maybe that's old news, but (Word) files not having a file name extension, when dragged upon the Mail Dock icon, do not create a new e-mail.

As Nermal said, just drag the image to your desktop (or if you mount your HD on the desktop, hold it over there and, using the spring loaded folders, drop it off where you want it to be.

There does now appear to be another way. If you hold down control/option while you click on the image, there is a contextual menu for 'Save Image As' - if you just hold down control, then it will just show 'Save Image to the Desktop'

My update went fine but now when i highlight text in Safari the highlight will jump around and not highlight what i need. I know it never did this to me before. Is there a fix or setting I need to change.

Ex. If i drag up, the highlight will go down.

Thanks for the hint, I didn't know that!
So after updating to 10.3.9 and thinking that in Safari 1.3 there's no "save as" anymore, I reinstalled Safari 1.2. Now that I know that you can "save as" in safari 1.3 I'd like to go back to the new version, but software update doesn't let me install 10.3.9 again.
Anyone knows how to trick software update so I can install 10.3.9 (or Safari 1.3) a second time??
