MacMall says it's been shipped and FedEx says it should arrive on Monday. No indications -- at least yet -- of it being "turned around" as sumsugar experienced.

I guess if I'm to follow Mac zealot suit here... Yes, people stood in line. Who wouldn't want an upgrade as soon as possible when you're running Windows 3.1 / 95 / 98 / ME.

Will I see a major performance hit if I upgrade? any thoughts on that or directions to Apple info that can help me in that decision?![]()
Thanks.

Why don't you try to get the tracking number from MacMall? What day did you order, and what day did they ship? I just ordered today, so I really appreciate your help.
usarioclave said:Not if the translucency was set to 10-15%...and you throw your widgets onto your second monitor.
The reason is pretty simple: if something on a dashboard widget changes, you can't see it until you switch to the dashboard.
That's not a dashboard anymore, that's, well, something else...a desk accessory layer that's invisible most of the time.
usarioclave said:Whenever I heard about Dashboard, I figured that it was an always-visible semi-translucent window layer for gadets, etc.
Apparently, Dashboard is activated like expose - you click a button (or a key) and the widgets switch-in, making your desktop into a temporary dashboard display. Then when you're done it switches the Dashboard layer out, bringing you back to whatever you were doing.
Is there a preference or something to make dashboard always-visible at 20% (or 10%) opacity?
It's kind of silly not to be able to see these widgets until you do something. It'd be much neater if they were visible all the time.
BTW, the Tiger UI seems to be about 15-20% faster then Panther on this 1ghz eMac I've got it running on. Very nice.
Most importantly, ASM still works! Yahoo!

jebus, how small are you freakin' monitors?!?!?!?!?!?!?adamfilip said:I run two monitors myself and Still need more. I dont think i could dedicate room just for a few widgets. but. I think your thinking more of heads up display then a dash.
Abstract said:I'm not even getting it delivered, so I guess I'll be getting it on the 29th.
Hey, if I use my iPod to back up my HD, and I erase my HD and do a fresh install of Tiger, will iTunes erase my iPod when I first plug it in, as my library on my Mac is empty and iTunes syncs my iPod to my iTunes library?
I'm just preparing for the big day (29th for me). Hope you guys report the bugs here so that I can wait for updates before installation.![]()

with a dash in a car you look down to see it. otherise your looking straight ahead.. with the apple dashboard you only see the dash when you click a button. this can be a middle mouse button if you wanted too. and since it quickly jumps in with expose.. i dont see the need for them to occupy room 100% of the time.. but i suppose having the option wouldnt hurt
aswitcher said:Yes, I think unless you were using some sort of hack that might be available around the place, iTunes will wipe your Pod...
I highly recommend you create a bunch of iTunes Backup playlists with all your music and burn them as DVD data discs (4.1 Gig each or so) from within iTunes. This will also serve you well in the future as an offsite backup against theft/fire. Once you have the discs you should be able to reimport them into your iTunes running on Tiger.
Not an expert at this but should work
