I thought I saw a Saturday update once or twice

I also think the team works into the night if theyre virtually finished, so they can have it out of the way for something new next week.

It may hit servers tonight and well see it -or hit servers and show up tomorrow
Anyone else notice the Macupdate often gets things earlier than VT?
I will often go there next to make sure

There was one Saturday update, way back in the early OS X days. Every other one has been on a weekday. It makes more sense that if Apple is releasing a major software update (and an OS minor update qualifies as major), they would want their release team in the office in case they need to pull the update or do a quick respin. Expect Monday at the earliest.

I never had a problem with 7.5.5 and found it to be much more stable than 7.5.3 and some earlier builds. My Quadra 605 in 1993 shipped with a version of System 7.1 with its own System Enabler.

What I found embarrassing was stability in later versions of Mac OS 8.5, 8.6 and 9.x. 8.1 was pretty darn stable and hosted an AppleShare network on an old Beige G3 Server until 2006 where I'm employed.

Actually, 1/3 of the G3 tower was submerged in water for about 8 hours as some idiot decided to move furniture and left the server on the floor. After we let the components dry, it fired right up like nothing ever happened. Amazing....simply amazing.

The Gateway tower on the floor across the room didn't make it that night. :)

lol isn't old technology great? The things that you would never expect to keep on chugging do, and in fact just won't freaking die when you are looking for an excuse to get something new and shiny-er.
Props to your equipment, man!

Let's hope this thing fixes that stupid bug where my MacBook wont wake up properly, I'm getting sick of it and I'm sure all those forced shut downs are damaging my HD

well, guess it's false alarm on 10.5.6. maybe monday...

I can't tell you how I know the piece of information I'm about to tell you, but I promise you that I know 100% definitely for sure when Apple is going to officially release the update. I know for certain that OS 10.5.6 will definitely be released either today, or on some day following today. I guarantee it!

Looks like it's going to be Monday or Tuesday now. Never has there been so much anticipation. 10.5.5 has been serving me well. But I suppose new updates are always welcome provided they don't mess things up. So far so good for me...

You should submit this to Arn. Hot inside information like this should be Page 1 News. :D

Ah, forget Leopard; when will Snow Leopard be here finally.

Maybe its just me, but Leopard has been such a turd ever since 10.5.2 or so.

I loved Tiger, used it since it came out and till the day I upgraded to Leopard, never had a single problem with it - had to reinstall it only once, and even then it was purely my fault. With Leopard, the first few month were "ok" -- not perfect but not awful either.

But since maybe .5.2 its just been horrible. In the year or so that its been out I literally had to reinstall it 4-5 times now. It honestly is that bad. Reminds me of Windows in alot of ways. When you first install it it all works fine, but after you use it for a few month, one day for no reason at all it just collapses into a pile of crap.

Stupid bugs everywhere, apps crashing and can't be force quitted, freezing during shut downs, behavior similar to memory leaks at times etc etc etc.

Now, with that all I said I do love some things about it - Time Machine is great, quicklook is extremely handy, spotlight has improved tons (though I really miss the old spotlight "more results" search window), I rather like the new dock etc.

But yeah, I really really hope 10.6 will be more like 10.3/10.4 cause those two were just solid.

So better than Vista, then? :D

On the contrary; compared to Leopard, Vista has been perfect. :(

I mean I wouldn't use it on a daily basis, but when I do use it, it works alot better then Leopard sadly enough :(

That's odd, on my Mac although Leopard is a bit buggy and Safari sucks big time, it's still generally fine... I have had my MacBook for about 5-6 months and I havent had to reinstall the system or anything... Now that I am browsing with Firefox, it's perfect really.

The only annoying thing is the sleep problems it has.

I personally prefer Safari -- just feels more "smooth" if you will --- Firefox just feels too much like a Linux/Windows application - too jerky/unpolished.

If anything Safari has been the most stable part of the OS for me :p

There are more, but I havent got time at the moment.

Anyway, each to their own.

While using Safari a website was able to run applications on my computer and replicate all the application windows... All without asking my permission... Very secure

To be blunt, it sounds like the problem is with you more than with the operating system itself, that, or I'm really lucky that I haven't had problems with Leopard, Tiger, Windows (XP or Vista), or really Ubuntu for that matter.

At least nothing that wasn't my own fault (I like to mess around with system files. Sometimes they don't end well, but I can usually fix the error without having to reformat, and this applies to Mac OS X and Windows, as well as Ubuntu).
