I'm wondering how much business Apple loses during these down times? There have been occasion when the store has been offline for up to 2 hours, surely there is a more efficient way of updating it?

The hype created during the down-time definitely balances out the business lost...

They may get more business as it generally creates a marketing hype storm.

Yep, I came on here to say that the Australian store is also down. Looks like something big is taking place. Leopard anyone? :D

I am so ordering an iMac today if it's released.
:D
How long does this usually take? I remember the Macbooks being updated at 1pm (GMT) but I can't remember when it went down.

There's always the telesales team which are listed conveniently underneath the sticky.

Is a consumer user, not a business user, really going to pay for a multi license version of ANY OS to install on say their own laptop and desktop at home? I believe the answer would be in the vast majority of cases.... no!

I will. Only because I see a company offering an extremely useful and easy-to-use OS at an extremely reasonable price. I don't think I can argue with it when the Family pack allows me multiple (legal) installs of that same useful OS on all of my Mac's. I'll definitely be showing my appreciation of the new big cat by ensuring every copy I run is legal. Whether you do or not is, of course, up to you. :)

UK back up - no leopard

well i couldn't find it...

EDIT: oops, sorry. it is still down!

All stores are down! Must be something worldwide! :) No more Mac-mini :(

Monday night (USA time) outages are common for the Apple Store, since Tuesday is new product day. Sometimes there are outages after which no changes are visible.

Still, I too have that "it's beginning to feel a lot like Xmas" feeling.....

I guess the logic is more people won't have work conflicts at 6pm then they would have at 9-10am. At least that's why I'm happy about it.

Question: (based on past releases) would this be a staggered 6pm release across the time zones or are we looking at 6 PST?

What if you're a pilot, and you're off at 8? But do have time in the morning?

I still see the "We'll be back soon" page.
Even if there's nothing added, it's a good sign that something's coming soon.
Perhaps this week, like somebody told me. :)
