Microsoft itself calls .Net a framework. Even Microsoft disagrees with you. And .Net is on Unix too in the form of Mono. (That goes both ways too)

You missed the smiley - of course .NET is a framework. Note that I said "Agree completely." on that point a few back. I agree with you, I agree with Microsoft.

The only issue is whether the "OS API set" includes basic APIs only, or basic APIs plus frameworks and others. I tend towards the latter interpretation, but since you appear to favor the former - I brought up the example of a Win32 API.

(I assume "both ways" would cover that Win32 is on Apple OSX in the form of WINE....)

I do not use my eyes, I have a head unit which directly inserts the code into my brain! @_@

Release it soon or I'll downgrade

Apple better release 10.6.2 soon and it better be good!

I am so feed up with Snow Leopard. I had promised myself that I wouldn't upgrade from Leopard before the release of 10.6.3 but after 10.6.1 I couldn't wait. What a mistake!

In general the OS works ok but there are still so many little bugs here and there that requires the user to find a workaround. It really annoys me.

- Quicktime X won't play half the file formats that Quicktime 7 did
- Now I have to versions of Quicktime installed. I feel like a Windows user fiddleling with the two versions trying to find one that will play a video file.
- Even though Flip4mac has been updated to Snow Leopard there are still problems with .WMV files
- iPhoto doesn't play movies unless you install Quicktime 7
- When streaming music to my stereo via iTunes/AirTunes I get random sound drop outs.
- In iTunes I get the spinning beach ball often
- Sometimes the Finder is slower than in Leopard.

Some of my favorite programs are much more buggy in Snow Leopard than in Leopard even though they are "snow leopard compatible". I know that's not Apple's fault. But it ruins the user experience.

Snow Leopard 10.5.8 was rock solid and Snow Leopard is....well.....not!

Hope Apple release 10.6.2 soon and it better be good. Otherwise I'll downgrade back to Leopard.

QuickTime 7 is still available and works fine in Snow Leopard

- Now I have to versions of Quicktime installed. I feel like a Windows user fiddleling with the two versions trying to find one that will play a video file.

QuickTime is very, very, very old software using very old code and in order to make QuickTime 64 bit, they had to basically re-write the app. I don't think it's fair to expect Apple to take the 20 years of developing QuickTime, throw it away and come up with a brand new QuickTime with every feature the old one had. There's just not enough time to do it. That's why I think QuickTime X can't play everything. By the way, it's "two" not "to".

- Even though Flip4mac has been updated to Snow Leopard there are still problems with .WMV files

Not Apple's fault. Talk to the Flip4Mac people.

- iPhoto doesn't play movies unless you install Quicktime 7

I believe iPhoto isn't 64 bit or even updated for Snow Leopard. What's wrong with having QuickTime 7 installed? Do you have a problem with it?

- When streaming music to my stereo via iTunes/AirTunes I get random sound drop outs.

Can't comment on this because I do not have this setup.

- In iTunes I get the spinning beach ball often

I don't

- Sometimes the Finder is slower than in Leopard.

I've found the Finder to be significantly faster than Leopard's Finder. I haven't experienced any slowdowns unless I'm waiting for a hard drive to wake up after being spun down.

Some of my favorite programs are much more buggy in Snow Leopard than in Leopard even though they are "snow leopard compatible". I know that's not Apple's fault. But it ruins the user experience.

Again, just because a third party developer deems an App "Snow Leopard Compatible" doesn't mean it will run perfectly. There still may be bugs to work out. Give them some time.

Snow Leopard 10.5.8 was rock solid and Snow Leopard is....well.....not!

I strongly disagree. Snow Leopard has been faster and more stable than Leopard since the first day I installed it. I was skeptical of course before I installed it, but I'm glad I did.

Hope Apple release 10.6.2 soon and it better be good. Otherwise I'll downgrade back to Leopard.

Just downgrade now. It's obvious you don't like Snow Leopard. Also, if you're expecting Apple to fix all the problems you have with third party apps, then you're in for a surprise. Apple has given the third party developers plenty of time with Snow Leopard before it was ever released to the public. That's pretty much all they can do.

I put my replies in bold.

I too had issues in the finder, but I have now done clean install, (completely wiped my hardrive, then installed SL) and I have to say it is much better and quicker!
I should have known better than to install over the top of Leopard. DOH!
