I really hate the stupid play button on movie icons now. You cant double click the middle of icons anymore because it will just play the thumbnail instead of open... you have to click the edges to open them. Are they nuts? Keep all the gimmick stuff in cover flow view please.

I also dont like how you cant have the files play automatically when you open them since they took out the preferences for Quicktime. It just doesnt make sense, why would anyone want to double click the file then click the play button? If they opened the file then obviously they want it to play. Augh.

Quicktime still needs a lot of work, it seems really unstable. Im hoping preferences will return too. The way SL handles movies so far is really irritating.

Stack navigation is of course really nice.
...This is a developer build.

I kind of agree about those things you talked about stainlessquid. Seems like they lost a lot of functionality to add other types of functionality.

As somebody already stated, 10a380 is a developer build (built weeks before WWDC), an early beta that still has months of development ahead. They probably will add the preferences later.

As a workaround, just increase the icon size to make it easier to click around the play button or decrease the size so that the play button is gone.

As for Quicktime, just press space to play when it opens. It doesn't take much to play it. I don't let QT play automatically because I often want do something in the background before making QT full screen.

As I already stated, no problems at all. It backed up, encrypted it, synced and transfered apps, music, notes up to iTunes without any issues.

Thanks for your reply. It seems to work fine now . I rebooted once and then it worked..

Double click the icon Title instead of the icon. Why are you opening movies from the Finder anyway? Don't you have them in iTunes?

Why would you put your movies into iTunes? I have a bunch of movies unrelated to blockbuster films and also a lot of other things that I would hate to have it centralized in the bloat that is iTunes. iTunes is good for music, and I intend to keep it that way.

The icon is a much bigger hit area. I can't even remember the last time I double clicked the title to open anything.

I've no problems with it. Just double click it, if you do so, it will open the file and not play the preview.

Why would you use iTunes for movies? It's crappy for central movie collection. I put movies in my own folder and in my own organization stucture. Finder+Quicklook is by far the best method for me than any other solution. I actually use quicklook+fullscreen to watch my movies than Qt player.

Does anyone think it slightly curious we haven't seen any updated 64 bit DVD Player or iTunes yet?

They can always release it after SL. It's more important that they get all the API done and the kernel done. They can focus on the rest after the SL is done.

Hopefully by 10.6.4, it'll be perfect with all the software in Apple's arsenal completely 64bit with GCD/OpenCL benefits.

I was looking at the Up to Date program on Apple's site and saw that one could preorder the upgrade for $9.95 if the Mac was purchased after 6/8. I can't see an option for the $29 upgrade for people who bought computers before 6/8. I have a uMBP from a few months ago. Would I have to walk into the Apple Store with a proof of purchase to get the $29 upgrade?

Downloading the update now :)

I installed the update and I agree, dock expose looks and works great. Expose is changed completely. When you go into expose mode you can click on the different apps to see the windows of that app. I particularly like that feature.

On my system there is one bug however. Go in space and then try expose.. On my system it will try to show all the windows that are opened in all the spaces and that doesn't go well...

The $30 upgrade only works if you have leopard so no proof of purchase is required. :)
