Damn.

I was just checking my bank account transactions and noticed a charge for $10.82 from Apple under recent activity. Could be a sign that SL is about to ship?

I ordered SL through the up-to-date program about 3 weeks ago but wasn't charged until now.

Has anyone had problems verifying their computer? I was under the impression that all purchases of desktops or laptops (new and refurb) were eligible for this upgrade. However, I keep getting told that my SN is not recognized on the online submission form. From there, I'm sent to a mail-order form. I don't want to waste time on a mail-order form if the system is not eligible at all.

Anyone have any info or a similar experience?

Um, this may have been asked before, sorry if it was... I am a leopard user early 2009 macbook. When installing the snow leopard upgrade, will it have all my old files and stuff? Will time machine be able to put all of my software and files back?

I'm looking forward to Snow Leopard, and I plan to be there for the retail launch (good thing it's on a Friday, as that fits my schedule the best).

As far as your files, that depends on whether you opt for a simple upgrade, or the more advanced Erase and Install option via Disk Utility. In either case, you get them back, it's just a matter of how long the restore process takes. With an upgrade, the restore is almost instantaneous - you probably won't notice. If you Erase and Install, on the other hand, the restore could take an hour or more - it all depends on how much stuff you have.

I hope the 10A432 isn't the final build, I expect some ui change for the final and a 64bits kernel for every mac that's support it(and not just the last ones). For the ui changes, I don't really like the new exposé except for the fact that it shows minimized windows but the blue border around the selected window is so ugly. Also they changed the transition effect for space which was better before on leopard. The others animations are great and smoother than before even for the dock magnification. I would also want to see safari 64bits uses a 64bits quicktime plugins since quicktime X and flip4mac runs in 64bits. Also isn't Opencl supposed to be compatible with every graphic cards??? So why is there a list of compatible graphic cards for it?

No. OpenCL requires certain programmability capabilities of graphics cards. Most integrated chipsets lack these, except the nVidia 9400M. Even some older discrete graphics lack the needed features for OpenCL to work as intended. Put simply, what's required is very generalized access to the graphics hardware - a feature that only fairly new (<2 years old) GPUs support.

Until 10A432, Snow leopard don't using sub-pixel rendering in font smoothing option. It was using greyscale anti-aliasing in font smoothing!
(capture on screen text, and magnify them. you can see difference in text rendering)

I wonder why apple doesn't using sub-pixel rendering in snow leopard yet.... It's very curious.

Up To Date upgrading

Okay, so I'm not sure if this question has been posted up on here before, but I purchased my computer in July of this year, which qualifies me for that uptodate program thing.
I was ordering it online, and I noticed that I could choose the quantity of discs, which all cost 10 bucks. I have 3 intel macs, only one of which qualifies for the up do date thing, but if i order 3 of them, will all my computers work updating?

Yes, they'll all work.

just a thought..

it says "Coming September 2009 with every new Mac."

that could agree with the august release, i.e. it will be shipping pre-installed on new macs in september?

Could be. There is usually a few weeks delay before new Macs have the new OS pre-installed during which the new Macs have a drop-in DVD.

I was install 10A432.
I was turn on 'best for flat panel displays' option in control panel>appearance. Next, off that option.
And I compare captured screen. There was no difference. snow leopard can't rendering font using with sub-pixel technology. Is it bug?
Also, Snow leopard doesn't have 'light' 'medium' 'strong' option. It's very not good. (because I love strong option)

Unfortunately, I do not think it will be back for the final release of Snow Leopard. I think people will complain enough to Apple to bring it back in an update or there will be a tuner of some kind released from a third party dev. This is something that has to be adjustable for different type of people as not everybody has same eyesight.

There was an error creating your computer-to-computer network

I've installed Snow Leopard Build 10A432 and I've encountered a problem. I want to create a wireless computer-to-computer network from my MacBook to share ethernet connection with iPod touch, but when I click OK it says: "There was an error creating your Computer-to-Computer network". Any ideas?

Does Flash in Safari in Snow Leopard still thrash the CPU and get it real hot?

Wow... not too surprising though, Adobe never made the effort to make Flash for Mac truly optimized for that platform. Sure, Flash 10 made significant strides in the right direction, but it isn't enough.
