I'm planning on buying a MBP this week or next... but I want Snow Leopard installed. How long do you guys think it will take until new Macs will have SL out of the box?

This kind of thing always bugs the heck out of me. Why would you want SL installed? I would *much* rather have Leopard installed and be able to install SL at my convenience once it becomes stable enough to really use. That has been the case with every OS release ever, whether it be Apple, Microsoft, or anybody else.

Hmm you make a good point. I'm eligible for the £8 upgrade so I could simply clean-install on my new mbp. I was too excited when reading about SL that I didn't look at the negatives :D

Anyone else running 10A432 got the "Remote Desktop Client update 3.3.1" through software update?

No Boot Camp Assistant in OS X Server 10A432

I just installed the latest built of OS X server and wanted to install windows server r2 on my macbook i use for testing. But there is no Boot Camp Assistant in Utilities. I tried to install different Boot Camp Versions, but non do get accepted. with 2.1 it says that i need a software update, but doesn't find to work with this version but in updates it only tries to re-update itunes all the time, although the latest version is already installed.

Can anyone confirm this and tell me that there is no boot camp. If there is boot camp available and working, please let me know, so i can instal windows on it too.

Could this work?

install leopard client instead of server - make boot camp partition - install windows server r2 - start leopard client - reinstall os x server on leopard client partition - keep boot camp partition intact.

Will i still be able to choose during boot? i guess it should when the whole process should work out.

i got the remote deskto client 3.3.1 as well in my software download now. but i also have itunes 8.2.1 popping up again, although i installed it twice already. when i check in itunes it also shows version 8.2.1 as being installed.

I go ahead once more and will install it again alongside with remote desktop client 3.3.1 i have not installed before.

But yes, i have that too. can you chack if you got the boot camp assistant in your utilities in applications? mine is missing and any try to install it failed as well. i even extracted it from snow leopard beta, which failed to get recognized.

it should not be missing

Do you know this as a fact? Do you have 10A432 installed and boot camp assistant is present? Maybe it is left out because it is not the official release yet? I could not find much (actually nothing) about this so far on the web which is kind of irritating as well. something like that i believe would be mentioned somewhere, even if it is not the release candidate yet. normally the web contains everything, you just gotta filter the right information. but nada on this. i think i just try a reinstall. damn i should not have installed all the other software in between. did not take much time really, but still, was a waste when i reinstall it. setting clock back etc.

if it is somehow missing in my install i can install it afterwards. i just need to find the right file then. i prefer that way.

that is the reason i still would like more clarification before i continue. it just saves time.

Running 10A432 here and bootcamp assistant is there, in the utilities folder, also found by searching with sporlight

Please send it to me.

i looked everywhere. is there a way you can send it to me? i doubt it will fit in an email but if you would not mind doing this i can provide you with a way. would really appreciate it, cause it would save me from a reinstall.

Yup, got it here, too. It wasn't there when I first installed 10a432, but then it showed up later.

I installed GarageBand from the iLife 09 disc, and Software Update recognized it and found online updates for that, too.

Conclusion: 10a432 fully supports Software Update.

Speculation: 10a432 _is_ the "golden master".

because it's for everyone running ARD 3, not just 10.6 users.

yeah, everything seems to point to 10A432 being the golden master

Software Update has absolutely nothing to do with a build being finalized or not, it is in no way proof of anything. I was getting updates for all my software in all seeds since WWDC including drivers for my HP printer.

i'm going to be in australia for a few months and my mbp qualifies for the up-to-date program... do you think they would send me a copy?
