I completely agree, Apple would have issued a press release by now if it was going to be out August 28. Didn't Apple issue a press release 10 days prior to the official Leopard launch?

But do they need to after all its not a new OS more of a revamp to remove ( in apples eye ) unwanted code

Yes. Even though its focus is more narrow than previous reference releases of Mac OS X (refine and polish rather than reinvent), it is still a reference release, and deserves a full press release.

yes, the store went down 10 days before release so people could order before the release and they put a press release out.

I think they'll want the same time frame again, it could happen next week for release on the 4th. I guess we'll see if any new builds come out between now and then.

No. The reasons why 64 bit apps are faster (typically 10-15% faster, not 2x) are fairly complex, and unrelated to the obvious "twice as much data" concept.

No, some apps will be faster of because of the 64-bit data manipulation. A few will be MUCH faster because of this. The extra registers you get use in 64-bit will help speed things up too.

My friend installed the latest seed and right before I was about to install it, he told me that there's no more 2 finger tap to right click option. Is this true?

It's the only thing that's preventing me from installing it right now.

no, it's not true. I don't have any problems with my MBA.

He probably needs to go to the system prefs and enable it again. 2 finger tap right click works fine here on the 10a432.

So if I were to pre-order the family version of snow leopard from amazon on August 6th, would I get it the day it comes out? Lets say the date really is August 28th, would it be shipped then?
