The new navigation bar at the top of Apple's site looks a lot like the top of a quick look window if you ask me.
Interesting. I wonder if that means OS X will be getting more of a HUD look.
That's exactly why Apple still exist. They do not stop innovating, experimenting, revolutionizing. Someone like you would definitely put an end to their success.

Thank God you're just a MacRumors lurker. LOL

I wouldn't call taking tips from iOS and putting in a desktop OS innovative or revolutionary. It's hardly experimental either. And there's no reason to insult other users in this thread.

Well my android can do the things i want but not the iPhone, So if OSX is becoming more like IOS then it will mean the same for sure no?

There's a difference between Mac OS X getting the iOS interface/theme and Mac OS X getting locked down like the iOS on the mobile devices. Apple have their legit reasons to lock you down on the Mobile devices. They have none for OS X.

It's the same story with Microsoft, they have Windows 7 and Windows Mobile 7, WM7 have all the restrictions similar to iOS but you don't see MS locking Windows 7 down.

An example of Mac OS X getting iOS interface/theme? The scrollbar are now invisible by default and comes on when you hover over. It is likely there'll be bouncy effect when you reach to the end of the page just like on the iOS.

Well, no. I mean the Mac now has the App Store which is an idea taken from IOS but you can still download and install Apps from other sources without "jailbreaking" your mac.

Wait

Ok, so this is a vague rumor about something that is important because it will spark more less-vague rumors... whoopee

If it's true that a developer beta will be released soon, not only does that mean that A) we will get a lot of Lion details shortly, but B) it means that there's a greater chance of getting Lion in June than September.

Exciting, no?

As always, Steve will drag us kicking and screaming into the future and we will eventually learn to like it. Remember when he took away our floppy drives back in 1996 or so? And what was that USB all about?

But it would also be interesting to discuss whether Steve is actually a help or a hindrance, since he has final say when it comes to design and functionality. For instance, Apple STILL sells a one-button mouse design, albeit with hidden multi-functionality.

How is magic mouse/trackpad a one-button mouse design? I don't see any buttons on them.

Apple is moving away from buttons toward multi-touch. You can see how they are already taking advantage of this in Lion's preview such as the launchpad and so on.

One button? Weird...I'm kind of sure I can do right clicking

It's good to see the anti-Mac crowd is out in force. Without them, we would have 25% less posts. And who would want that?

I'm going to take a guess and say the new Apple Website toolbar was changed only because it blended better with the new background Open up the Mac App Store on top of the Apple website. That's probably a guess on where its going. The "Matted" Mac.

First of all, the little pill in the upper-right of a Finder window is rather useful. It changes the way in which the Finder window operates; toggling between a "navigator" window a plain "folder" window. These two types of windows work quite differently. In a navigator window, opening a folder replaces the window's contents with the new folder's contents. In a folder window, opening a folder opens a new folder window. Some installations will open a folder window and I simply click the pill to change it to a navigator window and then move files/folders directly into my own folders along the left side.

Second, I heard a long time back that Lion would introduce the ability to resize from any corner (or side?). I truly hope they do this. I'm really getting tired of having to drag a window by the header to position that, then move to the lower right corner to resize. I should be able to resize in any direction from any edge/corner.

Redecorating needed

The current interface is a holdover from the NextStep dock and the spinning pinwheel. It is going on 25 years old.

I know it's all 'speculation' but my God...if they try to make the Mac OSs like iOS, I can't help feeling like they're going down the downward spiral of the old Macintosh. The company's resurgence was based on the tech savvy, and creative pros. The dock is superior to app screens. A computer's not a phone. I don't want an iPad or a Mac that's an iPad with a keyboard.

Steve Jobs (Back to the Mac Event in regards to the Mac App Store): "It won't be the only place to get apps but we think it'll be the best."

and you belive this?

well, who said that apple does not want to have video on the ipod because that's not what the people want? and who said, that netbooks are crappy and apple won't make such products?

apple has turned into a money machine. where ever apple sees a chance to make money, they take the chance. ask yourself WHY the iphone / ipad is so locked down? it is the basis for squeezing money out of the customer. WE are the cows!

apple claims that in real life a store owner also gets money if another company within the store makes money. in real life a company could choose WHERE it is located and therefore also have its store on another place. you - the customer - can go into the store within target market, or on the main street etc. apple has created a world that only consists of one store, one market. it is like a dictatorship where there is only ONE shoppingcenter and this is controlled by the government. you are not allowed to go somewhere else, you are not allowed to have your own will.
