Yeah, it will - if you search from within finder and then select Shared from the menu along the top. It found a few files I had in a drive connected to my AEBS.

Thnks for the response!

Bummer -- so you still can't use spotlight to search shared drives? I thought this was something they were correcting with SL? Meaning, I can't search by clicking the spotlight icon on the top right?

Wow. It's strange that there is no good work around for this problem, even in Leopard. I thought it would be totally fixed in SL. Disappointing...

Wanted to pick up a copy of SL today: sold out! In fact, it turned out SL was sold out in the whole country due to enormous demand (or low stock:mad:). Bummer. Next week.

It is kind of a bummer... though I usually only keep files for archiving on my external drives, so opening up a Finder window isn't very time consuming, especially since Finder is really fast now.

I'm not sure if it's a 'fix' issue, or if they just don't want to do that (maybe it's a speed or security issue?)

Very strange....it's weird, I can't even get Finder to search the drive....this is the most and probably only frustrating thing I've encountered on my mac so far. I guess my love of the ease of spotlight left me hanging when I switched to networked drives and AEBS.

Your apple store may be lieing. i hate when one store says they are out, and that everyone is out, but when you go to the another store (same one, but diferent location) they have some,,,,

you guys should have just ordered on line. Would have gotten it on the same day. Save gass, and by saving gas you save moneu so you can by more apple stuff ;)

Thats what you get for not pre-ordering.

People here think if they pre order they will not get it on the 28th. Thats not true. So they have to wait around a bit, that can give them time to clean the machine up (if they do a clean install) and do some back ups.

Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard = Windows ME -- remember that hype/disaster?

May faith in Apple has flatl ined right now. And to think that I encouraged a friend to buy one. How can this company that brags about how much better they are than Windows come out with this bullshat?

one user's problems does not a bad OS make. WHy don't you ask those developers why they haven't made their software OS x 10.6 compatible??

I've found nothing really wrong with it apart from the RAID issue I mentioned earlier, which seems to have been my fault.

Time Machine is functioning properly, Spotlight, everything. Seems to run all major apps fine.

SL 24 hours running fine.

Well I have been using SL for almost 24 hours (in 64 bit) So far I have had no real problems with the OS.

Only problem I had was with my printer. I imagine it is the printer.

Has anyone had the text substitution to work? I tried to do my initials/name and never got it to work. I dont think I am doing it right. Any ideas?

Picked it up at the apple store in Chicago, walked in and out with SL in under 5 min.

AppleTalk

Anyone notice that they finally deep-sixed AppleTalk support? Gone from the network pane, and I can no longer connect to any legacy AppleTalk laser network printers. Oh boy...

I'm glad they finally enabled older Macbook Pro's to use the 3/4-finger swipes. I got sick of installing tweaked kexts every time I did a point update for OS X.

Slow-slow-slow/install converted mpg clips now have only sound

It took forty-eight minutes for my Snow Leopard to install on a 1.0 TB hard-drive. My external USB drive, which has 500 GB and serves as my external start-up volume for running certain utilities, took an additional eight minutes to install.

It seems to have been worth the wait except for one annoying thing. Before I installed 10.6, I had made a file of video clips that I had converted from .flv format to .mpg using the Prism application. Now these converted clips have only the sound intact. What happened?

MacPro, 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 6GB of RAM

I did a clean install and it all went well, but iStat is not compatible with SL (hope they update). Oh and Mail finally hides on start-up :D

haven't gotten this new snow leopard yet. not in a rush... do i need to have a disc or can i just download it from apple?
