Did I miss something? iMacs have not been updated yet. I doubt they'd have new ones ready for the release party tomorrow?
ThinkSecret said on Apr 14 that new Power Macs, iMacs, and eMacs would be released within two weeks. Just this morning TS has again posted:

Sources report that the new consumer systems remain right around the corner, however, and could start shipping as soon as Friday, alongside Tiger. The online Apple Store recently updated the ship time on new iMacs and eMacs to 5-7 business days, and retail stores report that stock of both systems has not been replenished recently as usual, two indications that the updated systems, which boast modest speed, RAM, and video card bumps, have not been delayed.

do current .mac members get free upgrades to new versions of .mac? also, according to appleinsider, tiger's launch may be delayed due to copyright problems. check it out

18h 8min

It's only 18 hours and 8 minutes till the beast is let to the wild. I'll make sure I'm first in line waiting for my copy!

I have noticed one thing for sure: system preferences starts up blazingly fast, almost too fast.

P.S. By the way, mine shipped out yesterday from LA, CA and arrived today.
Ordered from Apple on Monday this week and arrived on Thursday, NOT BAD.

:) :D

how can that be  I ordered mine on 4/12/05 at 8:41 PST and it says it still preparing for shipping.

grrr

Reason for delay

My copy was origionally supposed to ship on or before the 28th.. i got an email saying that due to unexpected delays, it is now scheduled to ship on or before 5/3.

macnn.com has an entry saying apple is being sued by TigerDirect for use of the word "Tiger." It says that "court injunction, if granted, could halt the rollout of new Mac OS X Tiger operating system." .. could this be reason why it was delayed for some of us?

Yes what a wonderful club we are in.

I doubt it has to do that with that silly Tiger Direct thing, but who knows.

Well I figure they have up to about 7:00 EST to get it shipped in time for Fed Ex pick up.

Looks like I'm drinking wine tonight.

Let's hope they've got the capacitors/midplane issues resolved on the iMacs or that will be one ugly situation. Rev. A design/parts-choice bugs are one thing, but in Rev. B??

Welp, mine was received at 11am this morning...ahh, the feeling of having a tiger in the tank is so very nice...also even reg'd QT7 too...nice toys in there. :D

Anyone else have this happen???

I tracked mine on FedEx, and although it was sorted this morning at my local FedEx facility it was not put on the truck for delivery, reason, because it is NOT DUE for delivery yet but it is suppose to be delivered tomorrow. So I know my copy is sitting less then 50 miles from me, but I can't get it because someone said, Don't deliver this yet!!! I wonder if Apple was behind that.

Question for East Coasters:

Where did your order ship from?
Middletown, PA (just outside Harrisburg). I could jump on 83 and get there in about an hour or so - well not now, rush hour is a beast. But normally...

Fresh

Just out of curiosity, how are you lucky bastards whose orders have actually shipped out installing it? Fresh install, archive and install, or upgrade?

Fresh is the only way. I find that backing up OS X to be extremely easy and with an external FW drive, fast too. So, why not. It probably doesn't matter, but it's nice to start everything over; helps me learn the new system. ;)

For those in Uk...
How long is apple saying delivery time is for you? I got the email from Apple saying Tiger had shipped but would take 2 - 3 working days (by that I wouldn't get it to tuesday / wednesday)
Whilst TNT says it has been sent from Nuneaton - it takes one hour from there - not 2 / 3 days !

My order is still in "preparation" mode according to the Apple Store, and has been in that state since Tuesday afternoon. The site still says that it will ship on-or-before the 28th, and I haven't gotten an email from Apple that says otherwise.

Should I still be holding out hope that I'll receive it tomorrow?

Mine is on the way, ordered on the 26th

I ordered Tiger this Tuesday the 26th and it is now shipping. Left PA 11:30pm last night for the Newark sorting facility and left there at 4:09pm. Should make it to CT this evening/tomorrow morning and then delivery sometime tomorrow afternoon.
