I'd worry more about getting the best video card to boot. Cuz, you can get RAM any where.

Yeah, good call on the Video card, but don't get RAM "anywhere". Check it's been tested in a G5, otherwise there'll be tears before bedtime.

My Tiger up-to-date order has just shipped. Woot! Fingers crossed for delivery tomorrow.

I just signed my package with Fedex.
I'm cloning my drive, which is 10.3.9.

Can't wait, grrrrrrr

P.S. By the way, mine shipped out yesterday from LA, CA and arrived today.
Ordered from Apple on Monday this week and arrived on Thursday, NOT BAD.

:) :D

Purrrrrr

I've always wanted to swim with dolphins but right now I'm ecstatic to cuddle with my Tiger, finally! :D

No It shouldn't. Because My Wife is a teacher and I ordered educational as well. hrm....

It could be since the place I work for is paying for it via a purchase order, which technically means we haven't paid yet (order is placed, but we don't pay until it ships and Apple bills us). :)

Still, you'd think it wouldn't have said 'on or before 4/28' all this time if that was the case.

It's here!

FedEx just dropped mine off with my wife. I'll be doing the install tonight when I get home.
Perhaps someone (me?) should start a new thread of Tiger install pitfalls and tips such as the Virex issue?

Glad to know it's finally here.

Installing on my G5 right now

To answer what some people were asking, yes it does come with an iWork 05 demo. And having 1 install DVD is so much nicer than multiple CD's except for those who don't have DVD drives. Much better than having to swap out CD's.

Question about 10% off at Apple Event Friday

I'm hoping to get my Tiger tomorrow on my brand spanking new 20" iMac G5 2.0GHz. ;)

As for the 10% off at the event, I have an odd question. My dad is also interested in an iMac G5. He would be happy with the Rev. A version. If Apple does not release the new iMacs Friday alongside the release of Tiger, and I buy a current iMac model at 10% off on Friday for him, and if Apple starts shipping new iMacs next Tuesday and the price drops $200 each on the old models, will I be able to go back to the Apple Store and get the additional $200 off, even after having received the 10% discount?

This is really a question about Apple's price matching policy, which is 14 days if the price is lowered, then they claim they will give you the lower price. But on the $1500 iMac, 10% is $150, so will they just give me an extra $50, or give me $200 back?

To me, the 10% discount is separate from the new lower price, so if the price drops, Apple should give the full credit of $200 and not just the difference at $50.

Any opinions on what Apple would do?

This brings up another thought: If Apple would release the new iMacs, the old models should drop in price immediately, and if Apple would give 10% off the new lower price, that would ROCK. I could see the 20" 1.8GHz old iMac reduced from $1899 to $1599, then with 10% off, would be $1439!!!! Dang. Makes me think the new iMacs will not come out until Monday or Tuesday. :(

Apple gets a fed ex# when they scan the label - but it does not enter the system until Fed Ex picks it up which may or may not be the same day the label was generated

I still say it should have a tiger stripped disc. Mine is stuck in Los Angeles in a Fedex sort facility. Hasn't moved since last night. Oh well I can wait another day. I feel bad for those who are being put off until May.

Got it!

Got mine. I was jealous last time when people were getting Panther a day early. Learned my lesson. :D

Hmmm, if so, I wonder what version it is. Last I heard, there was a bug in the beta of BakePie.app :p

Did I miss something? iMacs have not been updated yet. I doubt they'd have new ones ready for the release party tomorrow?

Recieved my copy at 12:05 pm, installed and ready at 12:40 pm. Dashboard has to be my favorite feature, automator and spotlight is sweet. Safari RSS still seems slower than firefox. :)

Just out of curiosity, how are you lucky bastards whose orders have actually shipped out installing it? Fresh install, archive and install, or upgrade?
