Very nice pictures blakespot, thank you for sharing. A chance to see Apple at a convention, if only on pictures.

Pictures here are way cool. Sorry but I didn't take a camera. I have to say that I was very impressed by Apple's overall presence at FOSE today. When you first walk in, you're greeted by a very large X display that reads "Mac OS X 10.4.0 - Spotlight on Innovation". Lots of guys wearing all black with little apple logos on the back of their shirts. iMacs at several different exhibitor booths. Several Apple reseller booths. You definitely got the feeling that Apple was there to let the gov folks know that they are very much back in the game. I saw lots of people wowed by the little things that we take for granted as Mac affectionados. For instance, I was waiting to talk with the PKI expert when I noticed two guys checking out iChat - iSight. They thought the picture in picture was cool. I reached over and set the iChat to full screen and watched their eyes bug out. They thought that was soooo cool. At the Quicktime 7 h.264 demo several folks were marveling at the HD movie trailer that was playing on the 30" Apple Cinema display. I myself was pretty amazed given that the resolution was set to 1280 x 768 and the video was crystal clear. I went to display the movie clip information and sure enough - a 00:01:40 movie clip of HD video scaled almost infinitely it seemed was a mere 91MB. They were impressed. Then we went full screen....and we all were immensely impressed. I'm thoroughly convinced that QT7 is gonna change everything. One thing that I thought was pretty whack was the way the Apple rep was answering questions. This one guy that was obviously very excited about QT was simply asking when it would be available and wether or not it was a standalone app or something that was simply a part of Tiger (obviously very new to all things Mac). This Apple rep couldn't tell him anything...wouldn't even say wether or not QT was released as a seperate application from Panther....as if it were some big secret that she was afraid to share. I spoke up and let the guy know that it was widely available for windows and mac for free....either as a standalone download or packaged in with iTunes. This lady had to go to another rep to "confirm" this and that guy would only say that all he was allowed to say about release was that it was due sometime in the first half of 05. He wouldn't even confirm to this guy that QT7 would be released with Tiger or wether or not it was an independent application! It made me look like a dummy. ANYWAY, enough of my rant. I'll share more about Tiger when I get a chance. Automator is awesome...so awesome. That feature alone will keep me very busy for some time to come. I'm extremely impressed by OS X Tiger Server. Talk to you soon!
