Apple has not done this nor would it make much sense. It would be rather difficult to keep the release date a secret, yet allow people to buy it at a discounted price ex post facto.pennKid said:

Punanin, i think he didn't mean it the way you understood it. People who bought a mac two weeks before tiger was announced, will be eligible for a free upgrade. But off course, they can only state this after Tiger is announced..
Nevertheless, I think only computers bought since Tiger has been announced will be eligible for a free upgrade, but hey, we'll see when it arrives
The Motorola bluetooth sync problem is in the phone, not in Panther or any other computer's OS. Apple can't do anything about the Motorola bluetooth sync problem. The solution will have to come from Motorola (by writing a firmware update) and your service provider (by giving it to you).cybertron3 said:

Secondly, you can't walk into an Apple store and do that. At a store like CompUSA or Micro Center, however, they're nice enough to print out an up to date form for you. I know people are still talking about Tiger being announced this week, every day someone else seems to say it could be released today or the next day. Im not argueing with these people, heck I wish they are right!!
But anyone else get the feeling that Tiger now wont be announced or whatever till next week at the earliest?? I hope it is sooner (not that it makes a difference, a week or too!!) but its just nice to know things!! Nice to have the wait over! Im waiting for my perfect full switch over to Mac, Tiger is the key!! I guess I can wait...(but between you and me, I cant!! hehe!!)
With not much big news out of Apple recently somethings gotta give soon!!!
Wouldn't it be cool if loads suddenly came at once??!! New eMacs and iMacs same time as Tiger, along with 512Mb standard and maybe even new powermacs?? (Im saying whats already been said....but its so exciting!!)

I have just bit the Mac bullet recently and I can't believe what this does to you. I have a 12inch PwrBook (4 weeks old) and I am waiting to buy a PowerMac now. These forums are great (I haven't seen anything like them in the Windows world) but it doesn't have drive you crazy waiting for the release of new kit. In the PC world the changes are generally more often and gradual but it seems for Apple they are larger jumps.. (which means you feel like you have more to miss out on).
So part of me wishes I had never started to read these roumours as I would have just gone and bought a G5 by now..

My point exactly!! It screws ur insides in a horrible (and kinda sad) way...but end of the day we love to hear about these things! News from Apple is usually always exciting!!
You wont believe how many times Ive almost done what uve done!!! Ive been waiting really mainly since August to get this powerbook and Tiger (obviously I knew it wouldnt be out for ages but I wanted to wait!!)
How is ur new powerbook btw? It kewl? I cant wait to fully join and byte the bullet myself!! Using macs at school and friends macs is getting too much without ur own!!
I sure hope this Tiger at FOSE is a sure sign...I-JUST-CANT-WAIT-ANYMORE!!

PowerBook is great.. mainly got it for the video editing.. but its a great laptop. OK its not as fast as my IBM Thinkpad I use for work.. but its much more fun... and since I work with unix.. it's nice to be able to get under the covers.
Only thing the Powerbooks missing is an IBM Trackpoint ! .. saying that the new trackpad on the PwrBook is the best Trackap I have ever used.
Can't wait for the G5 when I eventually order it.. in the next week or so hopefully.
