I'm going to be at FOSE tomorrow. Was not really looking forward to it until I read this thread.

I get pretty giddy at the possibility of govt adoption of macs....until I realize that MS no longer supports IE on the platform. Trust me...tons and tons of govt web apps only support IE. This is always gonna be a deal breaker unless MS recommits to IE on Mac...which will never happen as long as we have safari. I can definitely see the server making headway but definitely not mac clients. I would love to have a maxed out xserve running Lotus Workplace but it's not supported :(. Heck, Notes is hardly supported on a mac...you only have the Notes client. Designer and Admin aren't even available. Anyway, I'll share anything I find tomorrow.

I'm also getting sick of visiting Apple.com each morning...! :(
Anyway, we can't blame Apple, because they said 'First half of 2005', not 1st April, or 15, and everything we are hearing are speculations and rumors
Pleaaase! Tomorrow!

PS: However I prefer to wait more to get a good and polished product rather than having it now filled with bugs and errors... I don't want Windows! :p

just something of note.... i looked at the booth layout map for the expo (it's in an ad in the express here in dc) and noticed that apple's booth is a decent size... i'd say equal to like 4-6 of the smallest booths... around the size of someone like adobe or alias's booth at macworld (this is all just a guess based on a map). also, microsoft's booth is a bit smaller... i'd say 75% of the size of the apple booth

for what it's worth.

Alright now I'm REALLY geeked about tomorrow.

Cool!

If you walk into an Apple store with a receipt of a Mac purchases within this 2 week period, will they give you a copy free (the $20 fee is for postage isn't it?)

No, at least with Panther that was the case. The only way to get the free copy was via mail. For those that like to have the software box it can be disappointing.

I will wait anxiously for your report of FOSE tomorrow cyclonus5150. ;)

Your sense of entitlement amuses me.

It's more a case of me being frustrated at the length of time taken for Apple to get their butts into gear and ship out goods that people have ordered. I mean, the Mini was announced a week or so before I placed the order (off the top of my head); Apple's own store indicated that shipping would be around 6 weeks. I can cope with that. But when the six weeks blows out to around twelve, I see it as nothing more than good customer service to sweeten the deal a little.

Ultimately, if Apple decides not to provide the cheap upgrade to Tiger, there's nothing I can do about it short of taking my business elsewhere ... and who wants to buy a Windows PC if they can avoid it anyway? :D

Thank you for taking and posting all those pictures! I wish you'd have shown the "About" screens for Final Cut Pro, and clicked into the "About This Mac" screen to reveal the build number... if you happen to go there tomorrow, maybe?

I had a similar experience waiting for a guitar. I was told to expect a wait up to 3 months...long story short...it took 10 months...did I gat an apology???

...what do you think?

If Apple is now showing Tiger publicly, why haven't they announced it?!

I'm guessing there are some features in OS X 10.3.9 that needed to be added to sync with 10.4., so they're waiting until they release 10.3.9.

Thanks for posting the great photos!

SiliconAddict,

To be perfectly honest, today was the first time I heard of AD.
What little I DID read makes it sound like something an intrusive and suspicious uber boss would find handy, especially if they're worrying about
data going out the door on flash drives.

AND that puts all your security eggs in one basket, just asking to be
broken.

What I do know is that I wouldn't trust Microsoft as far as I can spit.

I still can't believe that one single dumb ass browser application and fear of change is putting our " national security " at risk.

Besides, the really secure stuff still goes on Unix anyway.

staff meeting

Apple Store management has notified us that we have a VERY important all store meeting on 4/17, and they have nearly twice as many employees scheduled 4/18, so who knows. I can't wait!

Yup . . . click the Apple in the top left corner, select "About This Mac," and then click the version number (it might say "Version 10.3.8"). The first click gets you the OS build number and the second click gets you the machine's serial number.

Thanks for the valuable information. This must be key, if they really have twice as many employees working on 4/18. However, I still think we'll hear something before 4/18. If employees are working in large numbers, that means it will be in stores on 4/18. I think we could be told about this 4/18 date, next week. What do you guys think?

YES YES YES!!

Thats what I was thinking exactly!! Would make sense. For staff to be that concentrated the expected work load must be bigger, it must be when everyone knows about Tiger (or possibly some other big news!!! [thinking eMac/iMac etc]) and can get to the stores to buy and query.

So when can we speculate the announcement will be next week??!! hehe!! (not jumping the gun at all here!!)

Now that all this is said its murphey's law that none of it will happen...Tiger wont come out til WWDC or sumit daft like that...ah well!!....I still live in eternal optimism!!!

Come On Tiger!! GROWL! hehe
