My Mac Pro sits on my desk about 2' away from me. I swear I never hear it except for the occasional hard drive click. I mean, with something this great you have to show it off, you know?

Here's mine. Still use the PC for ProTools stuff and some games when I have time. And excuse the mess, I'm in college and neatness is not one of my strong suits. And yes, that desk is actually a door. It actually works really well. The hole where the door knob would go is very convenient! :p

I saw this post topic, and almost passed it up because I don't have my Mac Pro yet (it'll be coming this summer).

So... placement... where do I keep mine? In my dreams, my friends. In my dreams. :(

It'll happen someday!

I saved for three months to purchase my Mac Pro last year, and now I've got it and am enjoying it. You will too. :)

I have never understood why people would put it on there desk

Mine is underneath the desk.

Would be extremely rude to not place on your desk :)

the only disadvantage on the ground is the fact that it gets pretty dusty and all...so you get more dust in your machine. However, Im not sure that will cause significant problems...actually, it wont cause anything cause I had mine(PC) on the floor for 3 years and it runs like a champ.

I used to have that background. I honestly dont like tt as much as I used to, more and more it seems to me like a chick car.

Actually... with the new revisions, I find that it looks much more masculine. Admittedly, any car that small will look effeminate. It'll be interesting where it goes in the next few years. (I prefer smaller cars because they don't have blind spots, are by nature sportier, and park much easier. The tradeoff is a hit on my masculinity)

I heard premium chairs are good for the back...

Neck too; but bad for the pocketbook.

Nice use of remote flash, although it seems a bit strong. I'm surprised anyone went to such trouble to showcase their MP, but then again, it deserves it.

I used to think the same way but now I actually prefer the mac pro on the ground since its already has that lift above the ground, I guess the way its built. I know the mac pro is near silent already but if you put it on the floor generally its pretty much dead silent. Either way I aircompress the mac pro once a month :D

lol, I only have a fuji F31D and am far from jumping into the world of DSLR's and remote flashes (although I would love to learn).

No, since I purchased the 23" ACD I find it very bright even after playing with the brightness and found a solution was to place a light behind the ACD. This feels more pleasant when viewing the display.
It might seem so bright as it is a fluorescent tube lamp (i tried other energy saving lamps but this one topped the lot) and it does the job nicely :D

Sorry, I'm not putting a $3000 computer on the floor. There's just no way. My kids will destroy it.

You know what's really ironic about this overused remark is that most custom PCs cost as much or more still people have no qualms about putting them on the floor.

There's just a rather rare mystique about the Mac Pro that deserves that extra bit.

Even the fish tank looks like it was made by Apple. Dude, you're crazy.

HAHA! i know, it has an aluminium covering around it and only cost £40 in netto (in the uk).

I stress out quite a lot in the study (i work from home every other week) and have a goldfish tank in another room so when this came up I couldnt resist :p

hey now theres an idea where i can stick my spare apple stickers...

I think it's the case quality that people admire. The finish. Most PCs are cheap plastic, or 2nd rate cheap thin metal with a coat of paint. The Mac Pro is of an unparalleled build quality. The finish is amazing, I'd be pretty PO'd if it was to get scratched by a runaway hotwheels Or have the cat sharpen his nails on the front grill. I cringe at the thought.

That's it. I just flew from the UK to Germany a couple days ago, and I had my Apple wireless keyboard and PS3 in the check-in baggage. I also had a PCI TV card I was giving to my sister. Anyway, the metal case edge of the PCI card scratched the keyboard and PS3 pretty badly. I was more upset about the £50 keyboard than £425 PS3.

I love this thread, though. Sticky?
