"continues to note that Mac sales are becoming less significant in light of iPhone and iPad sales, representing just 15% of Apple's total revenue."

No!!!
Actually, everyone is waiting for the MacBook Pro Retina Haswell update, since revealing the new MacBook Airs in June.

For goodness sake Apple at least let us all know what the heck is going on....

Wait, you mean NOT updating computer equipment is BAD for sales? WOW!! I hope someone informs the folks at Apple. It seems that they are too busy focusing on the consumer portable division to even notice the Macs are not getting updated.

That and their pricing is from the early 90's.

Well duh.

Jobs is passed away so will the company eventually.

As long as they haven't focused any on the Mac line up, of course the figures will show, duh. Macs have never ever been popular consumer item and now that they are trying so hard in the company to make it so, that will only work against them even more because this stuff is over priced. Terrible marketing bunch, shameful business target goals, what are they thinking to stoop down to the mass consumer wallyworld style business model for?

They deserve to fail big time, they no longer serve the Pros. They just want everyone to feel like a pro with their half decent product lines.

My heart bleeds! How you must be suffering on that ancient bit of kit!!

Last month I replaced my early 2007 MBP with a new Mac Mini so I like to think I have contributed. To be honest, though, I could have easily gone another year on the MBP but I fancied a treat. Before the MBP I was on my lime green 2001 iMac (which I still have). These Macs last well :)

I have a 2007 MB as my main machine at home alive and kicking strong... if it only supported ML it would continue to be around for the long run....

well updated rmbp, iMac, mac mini, and mac pros should help things out

No they wont help. Their focus is on a dumb designer watch that counts how many times you pass wind while you jog for your life. A TV system that interacts with your dog and a toilet seat with a higher megapixel camera than your eyefone five S. This is the direction this company is going and that is that.

For my work, I can't imagine using anything but my laptop, having a full keyboard and big screen is a must. I agree, it seemed to take them forever to come out with a quad core laptop, and the retina display doesn't seem that much of an enhancement. For me, their max memory is always a bit low :)

Exactly. On a trip to Best Buy last weekend I noticed several worthy Windows laptops. HP had a 17 inch Haswell i7 quad with a full keyboard for about $1000. Asus had a desktop replacement (10lb!) 17 inch Haswell i7 quad with space for two hard drives and a Thunderbolt port for about $1250.

Neither had that great unibody MacBook Pro feel but they were excellent machines for a whole lot less than Apple's $2000 + for powerful laptops.

You also have to factor in the stale economy. People just don't have the extra income any longer to spend, so they keep what they have that works.

You have it already. It's on that trackpad that's in front of the keyboard on your laptop, or sitting next to the keyboard on the desktop. And look, no fingerprints on the screen!!

Couldn't agree more. No fingerprints on the screen and much less chance of a RSI ;)

Time for a significant refresh and a hefty helping of innovation on most fronts of their product offerings if they want this trend to change. Any day now!

PCs are at a bit of a tipping point.

They aren't going to ever disappear, the same way print was never replaced by the digital office.

The mouse and keyboard is mightier than the touchscreen, there will always be things you just can't do on a tablet.

This is the dip just before the levelling out of the PC market. I don't see a mass market future for laptops etc, I see it being a much more expensive product with compromises.

Only time will tell but I hope apple keep making laptops and not the awful sharks den of TVs.

Well maybe if they updated them to Haswell processors they'd get some sales. There is hundreds of us waiting for the Retina MacBook Pro update alone. That's at-least $300,000 in sales right there. Let alone those waiting for the new Mac Pro and iMac Haswell updates.

The whole range is really close to an update except for the MacBook Air.

They are going down the toilet.

MAVERICKS?!? I thought that was a basketball team!

Will our next OS X Release be called OS X Clippers?

The "NEW" Mac Pro will be Apple's hottest selling product in a very short while. The brainwashing program is already in full-effect at movie theatres nationwide, and every 12 year old kid going back to school is begging to get one...

I had a PowerMac 9500 when I was 12, I know. I KNOW!

When I was 12 I had an Etch-A-Sketch. I didn't even get a slide rule till I was 14.

I want fingerprints on the screen. Seriously, a touchscreen OS X product with boot camp ability would bring me back to the platform in a heartbeat. Especially a convertible laptop - only a shame they will never do it, and so Apple is not an option for my next machine.

Except perhaps a new Mac Pro with an external touchscreen ... but that might be a bit costly, and not quite so portable :).

I'm waiting for Haswell, I'd buy a 13" rMBP though considering it's nearly a year between release it's hardly worth buy now.

I think most consumers these days are a little more informed and know an update is around the corner so they wait. Especially when spending 1700+. I want to get an Imac 27 but know waiting makes sense right now.

This "secret, no-comment, no-leaks" policy of Apple's isn't working for the Macs anymore. iOS devices it works because there are enough leaks without Apple saying a thing.

Heck, I would of bought a MBPr a long time ago if I would of known it was going to be October timeframe (e.g. which is still a guess). Too late now, I'm well into waiting mode. They should of updated us during WWDC.
