Well it doesn't look like it has worked so well for the webcam...
Maybe, but at least they have full access to fix the issue.

Yeah. It has become a norm where all the features announced don’t make it on release day. I have an iPhone 13 Pro, first iPhone since like 10 years ago. I’m coming from a Galaxy S8 with Android 8.0 because Android updates process suck so I never got any kind of update. But I just can’t believe how Android 8.0 is better than iOS 15. Like even for using the simple phone app.Want two of these displays, but not going to remotely consider buying them until webcam fixed and re-reviewed.
The days of the front facing camera being an afterthought are long past. We live in the age of Zoom and selfies, and Apple knows better.
Maybe it’s true it was actually a last minute bug—which sounds highly dubious. But if it is actually so, then this is the wakeup call that Apple needs and it’s customers have long understood: Apple’s software quality has been subpar for years, typically shipped incomplete and buggy. Just look at Monterey, or the last few iphone releases where hardware advances waited months for the software to enable tentpole hardware features.
1000% thisThis would have been an amazing product for $999.
There would have been zero complains for both the monitor and the lack of the 27" iMac.
Even without the built-in A13 CPU nonsense... no need for it, really. You can rely on an M1/Pro/Max/Ultra for Pete's sake.
Disappointed to find only two tilt-adjustable displays at an Apple Store. A store manager said they weren't likely to get any height-adjustable models on the floor as those were custom and not something a customer could walk out with same-day. How are you supposed to try this stuff out if it's not on display. Heck the AR Apple has is the tilt-adjust only too. If your height adjust arm costs $400 and you won't even display in store, I don't understand how you expect folks to want to shell out that dough unless they can experience it first.
They had a nano glass, height adjustable stand on display Nashville downtown. It’s amazing to adjust and build quality is there for sure - but practically when monitor is on your desk, I’m sure you wouldn’t be moving it around. An Amazon monitor stand will do the trick for $5-$30Disappointed to find only two tilt-adjustable displays at an Apple Store. Others have said the same thoughI'm anxious to see some reports about the quality of the Studio Display camera. Verge threw cold water on it and sent pictures to the Apple Studio Display Team. Verge said "don't buy" til Apple fixes the camera. Did Verge get one that slipped past QC or is there indeed a camera issue?
I’m in the process of trying out Samsung’s Odyssey G7 (28” 144Hz 4K) at the moment. I was let down by the Studio Display not having ProMotion and basically being the same as the LG 5K I was already using, so I thought I’d take a look at something else.
Anyway, I’m bringing this up because I think there absolutely is a discernible difference… if you try to have text be a similar size on both displays, i.e., using 150% scaling on the 4K and 200% on the 5K. If you just run both at 200%, the 4K’s text is much bigger of course, but it looks just as sharp as the 5K.
EDIT: I should note that I only used these on macOS. For all I know, Windows and Linux might manage to make 150% on the 4K look nearly as good as 200% on the 5K because of their sub-pixel antialiasing.
There's a software bug that will be fixed as soon as Apple can figure it out. There won't be a mini-LED version (of the 27" Studio) this June, or this year.I just set up my Studio Display in place of my 27” iMac. They actually made it even lower than the display on my iMac. Was already on the fence about getting the height adjustable, but it now appears Apple is forcing people to by lowering the standard height. Bad Apple. Not to mention there will be a mini-LED version out in June. I wonder if Apple will agree to swap them out past the return policy if there’s an uproar.
Ross Young insists there will be, and has a 100% accuracy with panel predictions (though not the device they end up going into, as his sources are in the display supply chain, not final assembly). Couple that with an 8-10 week delay for the height adjustable version and I’d say it’s pretty likely. Guessing it will be $2499 and include the height adjustment option. There won't be a mini-LED version (of the 27" Studio) this June, or this year.
