Not sure if this is the same issue but my Studio stays does asleep, it just sometimes it only takes one try while clicking on sleep while sometimes it can take five or six tries to get it to sleep. It's totally hit or miss.

I like my computer to sleep when I tell it to sleep. Run these commands in terminal:

Code:
sudo pmset -a tcpkeepalive 0
sudo pmset -a powernap 0

The first one will disable internet connectivity while the computer is asleep, so Find My Mac will not be as effective. But if your Studio is on the move without you knowing, you probably have other issues to deal with.

They can both be put back to default by changing 0 to 1.

This is an excellent tip. I tried this last night and for the first time, my Mac Studio actually stayed asleep the whole time until I woke it up today. None of those "DarkWake" events, no running hot, nothing, just sleep.

In my opinion, this is what unchecking "Wake for network access" in Energy Saver should do. I couldn't have said it better myself: "I like my computer to sleep when I tell it to sleep."

I will try this soon - thanks for the tip.

Update: finally - it works! No more wakeups with Siri commands. Thank you very much for your help and expertise!

Another short question: Mac Studio has no Powernap feature in Energy Savings??

so still having the problem of selecting Apple/sleep that sometimes I have to do it five times or more before it goes to sleep. Once in awhile it works the first try but takes at least two or three for it to work. Did a bit of searching but no answers so wondering if anyone has any. Thanks.

That's because Power Nap lives in the Battery preference panel, which of course a desktop Mac doesn't have. I believe Power Nap is always running on a desktop Mac.

Intel iMac has it. Perhaps they removed it from Apple Silicon desktops.

So my Studio will now go to sleep after disabling "Hey Siri" but I believe it is still actually on. The fans are off but the case stays warm to the touch and when I wake it from sleep the fans turn on but the CPU is at 50 degrees C.

It's so odd.
But sleep doesn't necessary mean 100% off because is not hibernate. Sleep needs to keep the memory alive and loaded so it will come alive in a second.

I have found what caused the issue for me.
When I detached the monitor usb-hub my Mac studio Max sleeps all night long. It is an Eizo CG 246.
I too use the MX Master 25 mouse, as someone earlier mentioned to cause a sleep problem, but it does not affect my machines sleeping pattern :) .
The MX Master 25 mouse did cause the same issue, so I have to turn it of to make my Mac studio Max go to sleep.

Still having the constant problem of the Studio waking immediately after trying to put it to sleep from the Apple menu. Sometimes it takes up to six, seven tries to put it to sleep, sometimes works the first time. When it works never have the problem of it waking up on its own. Tried playing with Energy saving settings with no luck and removing peripherals from Studio and plugging them into Studio display again with no luck. Checked Activity monitor settings and nothing running that shouldn’t be. Otherwise it's been perfect for my needs.

I have the same issue and found creating a shortcut to sleep as a moderate solution - go to System Preferences > Keyboard under the tab Shortcuts and select App Shortcuts in the left column, then click the plus button. In the dialog box use Sleep for the "Menu Title" field and select a free shortcut. I used F6 using the ‘moon’ as I do not use ‘do not disturb’. You will then find it is listed under the  menu. It does still wake sometimes after immediate sleep but hitting the key is faster. See if it works.

Thank you and I will. And success ! Selected F13 and worked. Hopefully it will continue to. Thanks so much.

Well the shortcut key has been helping though the problem still exists (even updated to Ventura so we'll see if that helps). More sleeps on first press but have still had to do it two and three times to get it to stay asleep which is better than before.

Hi photoj2754 !
Just curious. Do you have any bluetooth devices connected? Like mouse, keyboard og trackpad. If so try turning these of. Since i began turning of my MX-Master-25 mouse before pressing "Option–Command–Media Eject
eject-button-icon.png
" (shortcut for sleep) or power button my machine sleeps "all night".

I have the Apple mouse and the Satechi slim X3 keyboard (though it did the same thing when I was using the new Apple keyboard that I bought with the Studio) but never tried turning them off. Do you mean turning the keyboard off first then selecting sleep under the Apple menu? My Studio always stays asleep once it goes into sleep. The problem is putting it to sleep. Sometimes I press the F13 shortcut and it goes to sleep, other times I have to press it two, three, four times and each time I have to sign in with my password then hit the shortcut key again and hope it goes to sleep. I'll try shutting off the keyboard and going up to sleep and see how that goes. Thanks and I'll report back.

So tried turning keyboard off then going up to sleep under the Apple and no go. Still wakes immediately and I have to try again. Maybe I'm not understanding your directions, though. EDIT-So apparently it seems to be the Satechi keyboard that may be the culprit. Reconnected the new Apple keyboard and it went five for five when choosing Sleep from the Apple menu without immediately re-awakening. May try the Satechi again with it connected to the Studio. I liked the fact that it was backlit but I may need to bite the bullet and stay with the Apple. Again, thanks for the help.

I just set up my new Mac Studio yesterday and it seems to sleep just fine on its own. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse connected to it and when I walk away and come back the Mac Studio seems asleep because my TV shows no signal and the fan on the Mac Studio is not running (the front light is still on though, not sure if it's supposed to flash if asleep).

The light always stays on. Again, my problem is going up to the Apple menu and selecting sleep. My Studio Display will either go to sleep and stay asleep or, more often then not, send me right back to the login screen where I have to sign in again and select sleep from the Apple menu, sometimes as many as 5 times before it will stay asleep. It does this on all three bluetooth keyboards I own two Logitech keyboards and the new Apple keyboard I bought when I bought the Studio.

Ok, so you have not the same problem as I had. I am still using a wired apple keyboard. (Yeah, real old school:) )
The Logitech mouse was the source to my problem.
Have you tried turning of both mouse and keyboard and then press the power button on the Max to put it to sleep?
(I can´t see in this mentioned in your postings so maby a silly suggestion that you have already tried.)

I recently just got a Mini M2 Pro and have this issue, my old Intel slept fine. sigh. :/

One thing to note is if you run Adobe Creative cloud apps, make sure to pause the cloud sync or it will keep the Mac awake. At least it does for me.

My current dilemma is tied to the Logitech MX BT mouse and keyboard, when I ran wired peripherals the Mini would sleep fine. "bluetoothd" is listed as a possible wake suspect in the Activity Monitor. Wasn't the case until I setup the Logi stuff.

I am using the current Photoshop Elements on my Studio so is this what you mean by pausing Creative Cloud apps?
