Apple don’t offer the upgrade options I want with the current Studios, you can only buy base specs (ram).

That’s not exactly true. You can currently get 36, 64 or 96 depending on the cpu. None of which are are the base amount, but it is what is available.

No one can sell you something they don’t have. Maybe you should build a PC if you must have more than 96 GB of ram

Yes you are correct, but each ram option is for a specific CPU option (so basically, no bto ram options).
A PC is non-starter….but thanks for your advice… 😬

Each MS that has released, has increased the ram options each time.
I am not getting an M3U which NOW has less max ram than the M2U (192).

The sooner the AI bubble bursts the better.

When they were selling M2 MacPros for pretty much the same price as an M2 Studio….I would have grabbed one if I lived locally…. 😬
Sadly there was never such deals in the UK.

I hate for this to sound like FOMO.. but I can still order an M3 Ultra 28/60/96GB/1TB 'base' model for $3999. The shipping estimate is early October. I'm placing an order, and if I can snag a 128GB/192GB M4 Max/M3 Ultra on the refurb site, I will cancel.

But part of me thinks a 96GB model is either a A) going away in a few months or B) will have an equivalent price of >$5K USD when the next generation comes out.

I think you may be right.
I hate the thought of waiting 3 months though…..😛

After reading recent articles on the main MR site, it does sound like the prices could jump any day.
It’s not like Apple will tell us ‘prices going up on xx date’, so we can buy before.

Another reason (for me) to maybe get an M3U is I can run Sequoia.
Once the M5 Studios come out, they will be GG and newer.
