I'm hoping for the core 2 duo for the MBP's by the end of Sept.

So by Dec or Jan I can have me a new top rated MBP.

Sorry but thats not going to happen. After how slow Apple put out the first MBP with the core duo, they were really far behind the rest of the market. So, this time around Apple wants to be one of the first to release the new C2D in the MBP. So if other manufactures have already said they have them, then Apple will unveil them really soon. That way they can say it's out and will ship within a week to your door or the store. After hearing about dell and alienware having the new chip, i really want mine now.

Alright so im fairly new to the mac comunity, but I have been watching the forums since about may fon information on the new merom mbp. Now that word on the forum is that the new mbp will be released either tomorrow or one of the next 2 tuesdays, what does that mean for ship times. I know apple waited so they can say "now shipping" but that would probably take a week to actually recive directly from apples website. Do the stores already have the mbps locked up in the back waiting for the go from apple? The nearest apple story is about1 hour away and now that Im in college I dont want to be running all over the state unless they really do have them. So what I am asking is which would be the faster way to get a new mbp, from the website or from a store if they have them. Thanks for the help!

Waiting for 6 months has been hard, but it looks like it is going to pay off!

According to another thread on MR, apple has had the merom chip for about a month and a half. Dell's merom chip laptops are all pre order with 2-3 week ship dates. Apparently apple is wiating so one day they can surprise us with a "shipping now" and still ship ahead of the other pc laptop makers.

Let's hope it's tomorrow. Since June I have been waiting. And a few weeks before WWDC it started with this "Next tuesday" and every tuesday I have been dissapoined. I'm PRAYING taht it's shipping tomorrow. Even my dad (who is paying for it) want's it already so I can start working on his websites (that has been on hold for 3 months because of this) and I want to have some fun with the computer. So apple "Tomorrow! Tomorrow! Tomorrow! Tomorrow! "

EDIT: If they are annouced or are shipping tomorrow, any chance it would be by like 6:30AM EST? Because I have school at 8:30 and leave at 6:50AM. and I get home at 4:00PM. And I don't want my mind to be distracted thinking about merom all day, because if it's online when I get home... I'm ordering it before I even get out of my uniform ;).

If you're right, kissed and hugz galore will be sent via mail to you.

I second that! I've been waiting since June, and this has been the longest wait I have ever had to endure. I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!!!

Same Here

I've been waiting since june and this is getting annoying. I hope tomorrow that apple will release merom macbook pros and macbooks

Man, we need an iPod update. I mean, what was the last one - October 2005?

I want to get the Nike + iPod kit, but there's no way in Hell that I'm going to buy one of the junky (sorry fans) plastic Nanos with these Magnesium ones reportedly just around the corner.

I LOVE my nano - I treat it like crap, too, but the screen still looks brilliant (my iPod Video, on the other hand, has never left its case - those things scratch very easily!)

Yeah, something soon. I wonder if they are going to do more than a new shell and bigger capacity.

Not going to happen

MBPs will be updated tomorrow for sure, you heard it here first.

I don't agree....wish I could, but blind confidence is not enough. There are no significant rumors that would suggest so. Just because apple is more secretive than other companies doesn't mean leaks don't get out. Just look at the past.

Right now there are 0 rumors that offer as detailed descriptions as the above rumors do. The speculation->actual product release history shows that there are not enough substantial rumors to support a release tommorow.

i still go by the "anything is possible" motto. look at the macbooks back in may. appleinsider seemed to think they would be released at a special event on may 18th. everyone thought the macbook would get a curtain show and blah blah blah.

WRONG.

they were quietly updated on tuesday may 16th and apple fooled everybody.

Yeah but remember most "rumors" on the net are pure speculation of release history and what the competition is releasing rather than relying on pure proof from a product or some insider knowledge. Personally I like to read the rumors however most are very dubious with the information they are trying to relay. I believe it when I can buy it on the Apple store.

I think this is best policy in order to maintain any sort of sanity.:)
