Sorry.. I don't get this  Isn't a modern day Apple Mac still based on the same technology as found on various PC laptops, with the exception of it's EFI Bios and lavish housing? Or am I missing something?

The icon is representing confused on why Microsoft would ever allow Millenium to be published.
Well, yes. But minus the part that Apple uses UNIX, and that is partially why I don't like Windows...

Do you speak English?

These two lines of text are assembled so to attempt at my mental health

So you're saying you have no lengthy usage of a modern Windows OS/Computer and at that you named off a non-existant Windows OS (Windows 97) which, if real, was from 13 years ago.

Yes ... just before the ground breaking Windows 98 ... go back to the Acer forums

Oh.. I see. So slap a :apple: logo on a PC then other people will buy it, thinking it's some magical box of tricks? Maybe they're just taken in by the tantalising advertising, embelishing it's appeal...

Last time I had a PC... Windows Millenium, and god almighty..

Comparing "Windows Millenium" to Windows 7 is like comparing a metal can of burning leaves as a cooking device to a modern microwave oven.

:

You sound very unhappy, maybe you need to switch to a PC :(

He posts this kind of stuff in multiple threads. Not true... You wont HAVE to buy software from the apple store. You don't HAVE to buy it from the ipod app store either.
Ha. Tell me a phone manufacturer that supports their phone longer then apple? Really what phone and company? Most don't even sell the model after a year, they just bring out a new model and the old ones gone, history.

Go to a pc forum if you really dislike apple that much.

I know Millenium isn't accurate.. but I was just stating that it is the only Microsoft OS I've personally owned.
Other than that, I have used Windows 7 at my buddies places and at work, and it's pretty good. Still like my OSX... :)

Wait.. You actually owned it? Poor bugger! :D
I would expect, if this product was released now; and with the existing UK laws regarding goods being sold for fit for purpose intended, millions of brits would be seeking a full refund!! Cause WinME was pure poo, to put it kindly.

+1 :)
I hated ME.. blah.

Last time I had a PC ... Windows 97

Mac OS is how we roll

So essentially you have no idea about Windows. I hope you dont go around saying OS X is superior like an ignorant fool

It seemed to be an infromation/real user experieince exhange thread; until everyone woke up and it turned into the typical pc vs mac thread.

Oh well it was a good thread for 17 posts

i suppose it all boils to do what its going to be used for as stated in my previous post!

I love my mac, its bruised and battered but there just isnt anything on a pc that comes close to logic studio or final cut in my OPINION!

mine is bootcamped to windows but thats only so i can update my sony nw3-hd 20gb mp3 player while im out and about...tansfer rate is faster than itunes to ipod...but the software is DIRE! not pretty but does the job!

In the end EACH TO THEIR OWN there will always be the Mac vs PC and someone will always side with one...

Only thing i hate about my mac is i have to have AVirus installed (which i get free through bitdefender cos were a re-seller) because i send a lot of stuff onto people that have windows and dont want to kill a whole school network where my mother works etc etc!!!

I have a windows desktop PC i built for myself which would wipe the floor with any Mac Pro for about 60% of the price apple charge.

i use a Macbook Pro i7 15" for my notebook because the macbook pros are a very good piece of kit and in terms of OSX its much better an OS than windows for being mobile.

id rather cut my hands off than buy or use a Mac Pro though. Especially if you like playing games.

I work as a Microsoft / VMware Systems Engineer so have worked with Windows all of my professional life. I needed a new laptop, and made the switch to a MacBook Pro mainly because of the excellent battery life (without a huge 9-cell battery protruding from the back) and the outstanding build quality and design.

Since switching, I doubt I'd ever be happy using a laptop from another manufacturer as my primary device again. The trackpad is fantastic and has really sped up my work flow once I had gotten used to all the gestures. I also love the simplicity of Mac OS. With Windows you have to constantly manage your install and perform maintenance to keep it running as it should. I still run a Windows 7 VM in Fusion for my apps and tasks that only run on there, and my main gaming PC at home runs Win 7, but otherwise I've become a Mac-head for life. :)

As somebody said, it's about the "experience" and the joy and simplicity that Mac brings to your life and work.

Same here on the desktop front. I like the hardware customisation that a desktop PC has over Mac Pro's etc. I have a completely watercooled i7 920 setup running at 4GHz that is MUCH faster at rendering than a friends Pro that cost quite a bit more.

The laptops just can't be beat though... :D

Wow... guys this is a MAC site. If you love windows so much why are you posting on. A MAC site, in the macbook pro forum. If you want to post how much better or cheaper a pc laptop is there are plenty of sites for that. I do agree about the MAC pros. Wouldn't buy one. I built my own desktop for a lot less.
Edit: I'm sure some have good use for pros, nothing I do would make it worth it.

everyone who posted owns a macbook pro for a very good reason.

But this isnt like being in a war you dont need to take sides.

There is just a very good reason to buy the macbook pro and a very good reason to never buy a Mac Pro.

I wish that when inciting praise for Apple products takes place, that it would do so against a competent prior PC experience. Yes, Apple is better than a white box piece of trash PC (or most Dell's, HP's, etc...) go figure... On the other hand a custom built PC, tricked out, Windows 7 configured for LUA + SRP, and completed with an IPS display, sets a standard.

As far as professional, what is more professional that running governments, airplanes, 90% of small businesses? Is that professional enough for you? Mac does things great too, it runs Photoshop just as good as a proper PC for one thing. It does other things that are different than a PC, this difference is polarizing, but hardly better or worse.

I'm sorry your PC experience was so bad. Mine is an absolute joy and I won't be going anywhere because I prefer it. I'm glad your happy with your Apple experience. No need to make anyone else feel inferior about consummate PC systems. In fact you can't screw up your Apple experience because they do everything for you.

Mac is making moves away from the professional market (dropping xserve) and focusing more on the enthusiasts who will spend more on integration and beauty. They are becoming a boutique brand. I think that is fine, just don’t pretend that Windows 7 and good hardware is any less capable.
