Id suggest you to buy the, by today, outdated MacBook Air. Although it's processor is three years old....it's performance is way better than what was released today.

Cool, please provide a link to the benchmarks.

Yeah but what about HEVC hw decode and faster SSD.

Not justifying Apple BUT they could have simply not release a new MBA and people would still be unhappy, now you can choose based on your personal feelings and budget. They could have done better but it is what it is. I'd still buy the new MBA

It sucks for people like me who have unlimited budget but now don’t see the point of the Air which downgrades the CPU and display greatly from the nTB. I may as well get the Pro now even though I don’t need the power (or TouchBar).

People would still not be happy if they didn't release a new notebook with the "Macbook Air" moniker but it would be a different group of people who were looking for an update. :p

MSRP for MSRP, I agree with you the new MBA looks like a better deal. But IMO, $250-$300 off the older MBA makes it a better deal for MBA fans.

But if you don’t need the power then why not get the Air? It’s the reason why I won’t buy the Pro, that much power on me would be wasted. I’m debating if I should even upgrade to 16GB Ram when getting the new Air so the Pro would definitely be over kill for me personally.

Will you adopt me / be my sugar daddy? :D

I have to reverse my statement.

As this Amber-Lake version is specific for Apple with higher memory bandwidth, I expect it to run 20% faster than last years MacBook Air while getting battery life.

I will order one for testing

I see.
People also say they see active cooling at some point in the presentation video but for the life of me I can’t.

This thing is Macbook with slightly larger screen and 2 TB3 ports.
And the asking price for a dual core CPU is insane. Apple has really gone too far for me personally. It's not just the high prices, I can afford everything they sell. I already sold iMP, MBP, iPhone and my Macbook 12. Problem is I don't find value in their products anymore. T2 kernel panics on iMP, multiple butterfly keyboards failed, etc. And in the meantime they take a lot of useful stuff away, while increasing prices like crazy.

I love Mac OS way more then I love any other OS. Actually, it's the only OS I really do love and enjoy using. But I can adapt to anything, since this nickel and pickel by apple is getting on my nerves.

Its a custom 8250Y with higher RAM frequency, Wifi and slightly boosted Graphics over the 615.

No magic with this

How does that compare to the 12” MacBook? I like this new Air, Touch ID, Retina display, better speakers and 12 hour battery life woth web browsing and 13 hours with movie playback.

Honestly there won't be mich of a performance difference. Id still go for the new air tho

By the way can you point me to the time mark where the fan can be seen?
I’m struggling to find someone that backs up seeing the fan.

I can't sorry, but in the video that shows the MBA there is the view of the back of the chassis, and then the back panel "dissolves" away to show the internals. The fan (if that's what it is) is in the top left corner.

If the performance is the same, most people would be fine with this new Air since the 12” MacBook is actually quite capable for most people, there is a video of it being able to handle editing in Final Cut, something that most people won’t be doing anyway and if they did would likely get a MacBook Pro.

For someone like myself who web browses, has long writing sessions and uses a computer for just general things, I really think the new Air would be more than capable. With 12 hours battery life it’s very appealing while also keeping the Air’s famous wedge design :)

Obviously it won’t be playing any games but if you need that you’d get a MacBook Pro or even an iMac.
