Y’all ask for a 16” MBP but you won’t compromise with 14.5”. Appreciate the extra tabs of screen or don’t buy this unannounced, unreleased product.

That picture doesn't match the story -- there's no notch, and it's still wedge shaped. Lighter is good, the Air weighs way too much for a thin and light..

And YUCK, I just noticed it had 1 USBC port, for power I would assume. I hope there's a lot on the other side!

Anyway, a notch means I wont be buying it.

I just want 2 things that don’t seem imminent: a new external Retina display that’s not as big/expensive as the XDR and a bigger MacBook Air.

Any mid-powered “consumer” Apple Silicon laptop will be better than my 16-inch MBP for my needs, but I love the big screen! The MacBook Air is basically the only Apple product with one screen size, and it should get options IMHO

It’s probably just a modified iPad without a touch screen or removable keyboard that can run macOS.

I suspect that hardest part of a design like this is avoiding keyboard flex.

This would be the perfect portable.

12.9 iPad Pro with magic keyboard is the best ergonomics of any laptop. But it’s crippled with iPadOS.

A version with macOS plus the camera location moved to the top would be amazing.

Plus make it cheaper by removing the almost completely useless back camera.

🤤

Good point. But I may buy the 14" if it doesn't have a notch, 16" is too heavy.

Apple isn't adding a notch. They are adding pixels across the entire top of the screen except in the very center where they have to leave space for a camera. They could, instead, leave that entire row across the top black. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
Because some people are so paranoid they will be taken advantage of they are insulted by gifts?

See, I wrote that as a joke. Then I thought about it, realized there are laptops like that and thought it wouldn't be too bad.

Then again, I don't think a notch would bother me, either.
One of the things that annoy me about my M1 MBA is it's hard to open, so a handle to open it would be welcome. I hadn't thought of it before either. Just make it rounded enough (edit *NOT*) to catch on anything.

I knew it was a joke, but it resonated. :)

would be SO stupid since they can fit the Face ID in iPad Pro without notch, better have borders than that notch….
Come on apple this can’t be true…
Yeah it's stupid alright.

Just think about this: MacRumors is reporting some Asian forum postings where someone is claiming the new MBPs are also thicker & heavier. Well if they're thicker, surely with the iPad being thicker & having no notch, they could accomplish the same thing on the new MBPs with no notch in the display. SMH

I want the touchpad back on the top.

A notch on a tiny iPhone display is acceptable and makes sense for now, but a notch on anything larger makes zero sense, since we already know it doesn’t have to exist.. so I call BS on this rumor. If they’ve managed to avoid it on iPad Pros with FaceID, they’ll keep the MacBook line notch-free, too.

Don't really mind the notch on my iPhone 13, but I just can't imagine having one on a MacBook, right where the menu bar is. I suppose macOS would have to move menus that are under the notch over to the right side of it, in order for the notch not to hide them...? Which brings up the question how older operating systems would do it; will they get a notch update?
