those of you obsessing over bezels, this is what you get. Enjoy, for me I'll be happily holding onto my M1 air for as long as I can
This. I cannot express how bad thin bezels are in a laptop, because the bigger the laptop, the better, for getting focused and avoid distractions from the background.

System 76 if you want Linux and system support. Dell at one time were selling Linux laptops but think they got away from that. There’s a MR member who started a thread and he said he’s very happy with System 76 support as they provide expert Linux supprt.
Dell still has them.

Will they manage to add a notch to the Mac Mini too? It’s not that hard, they have done more difficult things...

Here was me fully expecting white bezels on the air… maybe not?? White bezels must be exclusive to the iMac.

Or these rumours are all BS.

I still hope this is one of those calculated attempts Apple has pulled off lately to catch leakers.

I understand the benefits of Face ID on a Mac but cannot fathom this monstrosity on a device this large.
It makes absolutely zero sense. There's more than enough room across the top of the display to put in a FaceID sensor and webcam without resorting to a terrible hack like this.

Apple isn't adding a notch. They are adding pixels across the entire top of the screen except in the very center where they have to leave space for a camera. They could, instead, leave that entire row across the top black. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
It's not hard to comprehend, it's just garbage logic. That's like saying a donut doesn't have a hole, it's just got dough everwhere except the middle.

Because that concept doesn't work on a Mac.
Why not?
Nope, Apple is cutting a notch out of their LCD panel because they made the bezel tiny.
We will see. If the screen is larger than current m1 macs than you would be wrong.

That’s a pessimistic perspective. It’s more like a you got an original Dunkin’ Donut with the handle.

What? Two rectangles of the same size one has two tabs added and one has a notch removed. That's exactly what the tabs are doing. They changed the aspect ratio and added pixels.

Both screens have the same width, height, aspect ratio, and resolution. If the notch is 400px x 74px then the notch screen has 29,600 fewer pixels than the regular screen.

A different way of visualizing this is to take two sheets of 8 1/2” x 11” paper and cut a notch out of one of them. Nothing is added to the notch paper, but something has been removed.

With a notch-notch here and a notch-notch there, here a notch there a notch, everywhere a notch.

One of the things that annoy me about my M1 MBA is it's hard to open, so a handle to open it would be welcome.

I agree 100%. I find my (work) M1 Air harder to open than my (personal) 2015 MacBook Pro.

Part of that might just be weight distribution. But, whatever the reason, I can open my MBP one-handed; while my Air requires two hands (and that little inset below the trackpad doesn't offer much purchase for my large fingers).
