Apple isn't adding a notch. They are adding pixels across the entire top of the screen except in the very center where they have to leave space for a camera. They could, instead, leave that entire row across the top black. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
Nope, Apple is cutting a notch out of their LCD panel because they made the bezel tiny.

If they fill the whole screen without any borders, I dont mind the notch. I never see it on the phone. Im waiting for this MacBook. Please 12 inch size with 13 inch screen. I pray to you Apple Gods.

Old timers and fans of the Who might get this reference. ;)

Sad if true. Where do we go? Anyone have luck with Linux laptops supported by the manufacturer?
System 76 if you want Linux and system support. Dell at one time were selling Linux laptops but think they got away from that. There’s a MR member who started a thread and he said he’s very happy with System 76 support as they provide expert Linux supprt.

one thing I've noticed. people that complain about the notch, don't know the reason why they dislike the notch.

Really hope this isn't true. I mean, the notch on iPhones isn't design feature, it's an unfortunate necessity.
After all these years, you'd think they would've come up with a better solution, especially for a laptop, which has a bigger bezel than a phone anyway, thus plenty room to hide the camera(s) and sensors.

I'd say, just place them all next to each other... sounds simple, but it probably isn't.

Maybe people love the notch! Who knows.
If the rumor is even true, and if it is, I guess we’ll have to see how it’s presented. Will it be low-profile and barely noticeable, or will it be like, ‘OMG, the notch just smacked me right in the face’!!! Or ’once seen, it can never be unseen’.

All I want is an upgraded Mac Mini that can support multiple monitors. Tomorrow will tell the real story and we’ll know for sure and then everyone can make decisions that will best suit them.
