Interesting! On the CalDigit download page for the docking utility, it says "macOS Drivers (For Intel-based Macs only; not Apple M1-based Macs):". But maybe it's worth a try anyway.
I'm only using the utility to globally disconnect connected media vs disconnecting one by one. Should have no effect on ethernet.

I'd have a go at clicking on the + and create a new thunderbolt connection slot 3 or something like that and see if anything changes in the fields opposite. If it doesn't connect automatically you can always delete it again.

I use 2 adapters. One for the display and power. The other one for usb 3.0 ports and lan. (USB 10/100/1000 LAN) i pluget it and it works. TB3 monitor was too expensive and i like 24 inch.
I have a new window like chris above with the adapter description.

I choosed this because there use the apple driver no need to install some stuff.

If you click on the circle with the 3 dots, and see the Set Service Order... Can you see if Wifi takes higher priority than the Thunderbolt Ethernet Slot 1? If so, change it. I find if it is the case, Mac or Caldigit will disable the ethernet interface.
Good to know but I don't think he has an ethernet slot, just an ethernet bridge.

I’m using the same dock with the M1 mini, and I notice that the LED never goes out with 11.1. Under the previous version of Big Sur, it would go on and off throughout the night, but now it stays on the whole time. The dock stays warms the whole time, too.

*shrug*. My TS3+'s LED doesn't turn on. Guess we're even? :p

I'll let you both know when my dock arrives (shortly) and my M1 arrives - in 2 to 3 weeks :)

My dock arrived today :)
It's dinkier than I imagined. Quite a nice size to stick on the table next to the M1 when it arrives.
@deeddawg it does indeed have firmware v 44,1 already installed.
@Mistercharlie is the light blue? In the documentation it says it lights up when it senses a Thunderbolt 3 connection. Might that explain it?
Magic Mouse 2 and an adaptor arrive tomorrow.
It's all go :)
Laptop only at the processing stage.

It is blue. It lights up when the computer is in, and goes off when it’s sleeping. but with the M1, it goes on and off even when the computer isn’t awake. My guess is that it’s the M1’s non-sleep sleep that causes it.

Update: I unplugged all the cables and re-plugged them all in, and then I was able to add "Thunderbolt Ethernet Slot 1" in network settings. Everything working great now! I love this hub.

Update. I switched the connections. Previously I had the display connected via the TS3+, and an external SSD connected direct to USB-C on the Mac. Now I have the ssd hooked up to the hub, and the display connected to USB-C on the Mac. The hub now sleeps as expected.

Why not connect both to the dock?

I have the original Caldigit thunderbolt dock and was having a similar issue with the ethernet port not working or showing up in the Network preferences on my M1 Air. I rebooted the Air with a network cable plugged in and then it showed up. Before rebooting both sides of the ethernet cable showed link lights (switch side and dock side). Go figure.
