I thought about getting a TS3+ but I decided it was overkill for my needs. I went with the Caldigit SOHO USB-C dock and have been pretty happy with it. I’ve had to unplug it a couple of times to reset it after some port weirdness but nothing terrible.
I did look at the SOHO but decided that despite the fact it looks good, it probably won't quite work for me as I really need a wired Ethernet connection and once my audio interface is supported I'll need Thunderbolt 2. I'm leaning very heavily towards to the TS3+ now, or this Plugable (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plugable-Thunderbolt-Compatible-Supports-DisplayPort/dp/B0722Q4ZCP/) which would allow me to keep using my Apple charger in the other port (even though I'm fairly convinced this is being overly concerned).

My Caldigit ts3+ (connected to M1 Mac) never sleeps any more. The blue LED stays on, and the unit stays hot. It used to sleep with the Mac.

Did it ever sleep with m1 Mac? I got the ts3+ for my m1 MacBook Pro, and the blue light has never gone off - so never sleeps with this Mac. I didn't know it was supposed to!

It used to, although it would wake up quite a bit too. Not for the last few weeks though. Perhaps not since 11.2, although I can’t be sure. I’ve just covered up the light with tape.

My caldigit ts3+ (connected to m1 mba) lights on and off but it doesn't wake up from sleep after 1-2 hours. Is anyone having the same issue?
I have the same issue and submitted feedback to Apple through the Feedback Assistant. Please do the same. CalDigit support told me they know about the issue but cannot fix it because the problem is caused by macOS or some part of the M1s firmware.

My M1 MBP was crashing all of the time (MacOS 11.2.3) so I did a factory reset and installed everything fresh. (It's a little more stable now, but I still get too many crashes)

But I noticed that the blue light on the TS3+ sometimes goes off when MBP is sleeping now. It does come back on when MBP is asleep sometimes - I think this is because I have ethernet plugged into the dock and MBP maybe doing time machine back ups when asleep. I also have external display (Thunderbolt LG Ultrafine) plugged into the TS3.

Bottom line is that the CalDigit dock seems to be sleeping and waking properly now. I haven't had a sleep related crash with it.

I got a dpi to dpi cable and it works without problem I think the issue is the caldigit usbc with m1 connection

I'm trying to buy a dock for my M1 Air, but my LG 27" 4K screen is connected to an M1 Mini over HDMI as it was temperamental with USB-C. The Mini is going.....

Does anyone have a monitor connected via the TS3+ over a USB/thunderbolt connection please?

I know I can buy their smaller dock for HDMI, but you lose a lot of ports to save £50 on the price so would rather go with the larger TS3+.

Not sure what you're asking?

You want to buy a TS3+, then add another dock to the TS3+ via Thunderbolt3?

Also - not sure there's any reason to connect the monitor to the TS3+ via HDMI when you already have a direct HDMI connection on your Mini.

For whatever its worth, MacOS 11.3.1 seems to have fixed a lot of my crashing problems with M1 MBP - Caldigit TS3+ (and a lot of stuff plugged into the dock, including LG Ultrafine 5k, Logitech Brio Cam, Yeti Mic...). I was having crashes every day or so, and almost every time I docked / undocked. But machine has been up for 6 days now, docking and undocking every day.

Code:
M1-MBP ~ % uptime
10:50 up 6 days, 15:11, 2 users, load averages: 1.56 1.40 1.40

I have the following hookup, using USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, and the cables that came with the dock and the monitor. All works great.

M1 Mac mini > Caldigit > Dell U3219Q

I can report that the Caldigit TS3+ is bloody brilliant, has been a great purchase. Everything I've plugged in to it has worked first time, every time and I don't have any issues whatsoever, using it on my M1 MacBook Air or M1 Mac Mini.

I realised that DAC might have a audio chip inside, as it connect to the computer via a Thunderbolt and outputs optical signal, does anyone know if it can decode/output Apple's highest end of lossless? 24 bit/192 kHz?

When I plug in ethernet to my TS3+ my Network prefs show that I'm connected to "Thunderbolt Ethernet Slot 0" and "Thunderbolt Ethernet Slot 1, Port 2". Should I remove one of these? Also, why does it show me connected to both Ethernet and WiFi? Once connected to Ethernet shouldn't WiFi turn off?

First, connecting ethernet doesn't turn off or disconnect wifi on Macs.
Yes, you can delete one or both of the ethernet connections. If you delete both, just add one back and it'll be named the default for your dock.

OK thanks. Re: WiFi not turning off when connected to ethernet—should I disconnect from WiFi or turn it off altogether when connected to Ethernet or will the Ethernet connection take preference over the WiFi based on my Service Order?

As long as ethernet is listed ahead of wifi in the service order, you don't need to do anything with turning it off or disconnecting.

Hi all. Recently my TS3+ ethernet randomly disconnects from my MacBookPro M1 but the rest of the connection (usb) continue to work. The only thing I can do is unplug the TS3+ and plug it back in to get ethernet functioning again. Anyone else encounter similar?

The Caldigit TS3+ is, as the Brits say, a "brilliant piece of kit".

Everything works.
  • SD Card reader - check.
  • USB audio to speakers with volume control from the keyboard - check.
  • Headphone jack with volume control from the speaker - check.
  • High speed USB drives - check.
  • 1GB Ethernet port - check.
  • Wake and sleep correctly - check.
It's a little pricey, but life is too short to fool around with cheap hubs.

On a related note: I WAS having wake/sleep issues, but the solution in this post solved the problem of my monitor constantly waking.

For anyone who comes across this post with a M1 Air/MBP connected to a hub and the monitor is constantly waking:
  1. Run command in terminal: sudo pmset -a tcpkeepalive 0
  2. Run command in terminal: sudo pmset -a powernap 0
  3. Make sure this option is not checked: "System Preferences->Battery->Power Adapter->Wake for network access"
That post I linked to will suggest to disable the "Optimized battery settings" but I left that enabled because it didn't affect my sleep/wake issue.
