Hmm looks like you don’t know that there are faster SSDs on windows machines. It’s fine to love a brand but good to remain factual.
Il rephrase… a slightly slower SSD is better than dealing with slow OS that windows offers lol I was using a windows 11 machine last week an took me 4 times as long to do anything 😂

No idea about that. I use both Windows and macOS and get equal performance from both the machine. I guess it is maybe about how used to you are with a specific OS. I use both and don’t necessarily prefer one over the other. Both are equal for me with each having their pros and cons. You will definitely find people who will say exactly the same thing about macOS you you are saying about Windows. I know some of these people personally lol

Totally. My comments are based on my personal views and experience :) I understand other people may feel differently. For me the slower SSD isn’t something I would notice and I prefer it over having to use windows stuff, personally speaking

right, but a computer's performance takes into account numerous things (like the cpu, ram, and the relationship between all the components, and the OS itself). one single thing (regardless of platform) does not begin to tell the whole story

Ordered in the first 5 mins an got the base model. I’m not worried about the slower SSD because apples slower SSD Is still better than putting up with the crap pc/windows stuff offer lol. Due for delivery on release day (15th)
What colour did you go for?

I could order right now (Saturday evening) and get the same delivery date I did by waking up at 5:00am PT.
Oh well, I didn't need the beauty sleep ;)

thinking of getting a macbook air myself. i used everything apple. lol. watch, phone ipad air 2, apple tv. something to use while laying in bed. just for surfing, watching stuff or whatever. deciding which one to pull the trigger on.

went to the store last week while waiting for my battery to be replaced and looking at the ip 13s and the laptops. felt really nice and light.

Mine said the same thing ($150 "savings"). But when you add it up...the MBA is $1099 vs $1199 without education discount. And the RAM upgrade to 16 is $180 vs $200, and there's no savings on the SSD. Not sure how they go from $120 saved to $150. But when you actually compare the configurations with and without the education discount, it's $1479 vs $1599. So I'm assuming the $150 is just incorrect...or maybe there was supposed to be $30 discount on the SSD upgrade.

But my point is the actual money spent only reflects $120 in savings, not $150.

Edited to add: Oddly enough, there is an education discount of $20 for the 1TB SSD. And a $60 discount for the 2TB SSD. But no discount for the 512. I've never used my education discount before...so I don't know if this is normal or not.

The reason there probably is no discount on the 512 is because 512 gb is the base on the high end stock configuration and this is a way of keep price point parity. The high end base has the same standard 100 off and if they discounted the 512gb SSD upgrade by 10% on the 256gb base model, the configured price would make is 20 dollars cheaper than the high end model with all other specs being exactly the same.

The 150 savings the OP is seeing is the current back to school promo which gives a 150 gift card. If you look closely, there will be a separate 150 charge for the gift card negating the “150 savings” on the MacBook Air.

Can only see base models preparing to ship this week, for delivery of the 15th.

Most of us with BTO’s are looking at August deliveries…unfortunately unless they come forward.
