MacBook Air M2 Pre-order?

I got 7/21-7/25 as a delivery range, though I think the odds were already stacked against me (first available date was Monday 7/18) since it's being shipped to Hawaii. My config is as follows:
  • Starlight
  • 8-core CPU / 8-core GPU
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512GB SSD
  • 67W Power Adapter

I ordered at 8:01am ET (midnight/10/24/1) and received an 8/2-8/9 shipping estimate
I ordered again at 10:57am ET (midnight/10/24/1; edu store) and received an 8/2-8/9 shipping estimate
I just checked the store app at 6:57pm ET (midnight/10/24/1) and the current shipping estimate is ... 8/1-8/8

So nearly 12 hours later, there isn't date slippage on my configuration. There's date... advanceage?

Angry I woke up at 4:45AM PT, but maybe mine will actually show up well ahead of the original estimate?

Not so far.... this morning I worked with support and then ended up at $560 which is really the quoted price for late 2020 MBP with my config. I should have just planned to sell 3rd party and bought the MBA outright. Now I wait.....

Good luck. Sometimes the selling process gets difficult.

Just preordered midnight base model for the GF using united air mile rewards. 4-5 week ETA. I suppose the wait is the price for not having to come out of pocket. 😛

B.

Midnight
8/10 m2
16 gigs of RAM
512 SSD
35W Charger

est Aug2-9 praying it ships earlier as I wanted it for my summer travel camp. If not I may cancel as my 16 MBP Max is just fine just a little larger then I would like.

Did anyone else order with the education discount? Did you all get charged the same $150 amount as the gift card? I'm confused as to why they're charging that $150 to me.

Ordered yesterday MBA 8/10/24/512/Midnight/AC+ (3 Yr) $1,978.91 (Mil Discount, Apple Card (3%)).

Del Expected 9 August 2022 (I will believe that when I see it).

They take $150 off the computer, then charge you $150 for the gift card. That way, if you return the computer, they don't have to mess with returning or canceling the gift card, which is typically not refundable. Example:

Let's say the computer is priced at $1,000 after the regular education discount.

You buy it, and as part of this promotion, they knock another $150 off, so you get the computer for $850.

As part of this deal, they sell you a $150 gift card at face value, $150.

So, you have $1,150 of merchandise ($1,000 computer and $150 gift card) for which you paid $1,000.

If you were to return the computer, you'd get $850 back and would keep the $150 gift card for which you paid $150. Provided that you plan to eventually buy something else from Apple, you're even, though you don't have the $150 in cash, of course. If you have no use for the gift card, you'll have to find another way to monetize it.

Ordered in the first 5 mins an got the base model. I’m not worried about the slower SSD because apples slower SSD Is still better than putting up with the crap pc/windows stuff offer lol. Due for delivery on release day (15th)

Hmm looks like you don’t know that there are faster SSDs on windows machines. It’s fine to love a brand but good to remain factual.
