Yeah mine was showing 1 hour left at 90%. It may have something to do with the fact that the batteries are new! Has this happened in the past with the last gen MB?
Also, have any of you trained your battery by the book? And who's getting what times? I know that's kind of tough to do, at least for me, because i dont really have time to leave it sitting for the whole time the apple website says.

I have not trained my battery but I get around 3:25 at medium brightness and 2:30 or less at full brightness. Both numbers are down from the MacBook due to the smaller-capacity battery, unfortunately.

And this afternoon, it seemed like it took almost four hours to charge to 100%, so I'm going to keep an eye on this unimpressive performance.

Attention: I hate you all.*

*kindly replace hate with "am super envious of"

Ugh... NO BUENO!! What happened to 4.5-5 hours that was advertised?!?!?! GRRRR.... oh well, i'm draining mine right now, letting it run down and then charging it over night..

We'll see how it goes. I just don't really have the patience to do the WHOLE thingie, and actually i'm not even sure it works... hmm.

I will look up the process and add it to the instructions to the first post.

I'm joing the 2.4Ghz 4GB club later this week ;) Hopefully I can make sure my laptop doesn't have any sliding battery cover, or a strangely-aligned trackpad when the Apple dude installs the RAM for me :D

Okay, let's have a mini-poll, but without the poll. What's the biggest problem all MacBook/Pro owners are having with their new computer?

So far I agree, it seems to take the battery forever to charge, but the battery life is great. To the poster only getting ~3 hrs, what are you doing? I haven't done a full test, but I am on pace to get the 5hr advertised.

New trackpad: mostly love it, but the right click area is a little trippy. It is further to the right and lower than my brain expects. Sometimes it is harder than I expect to do the 2 finger scroll. Used to have a scroll zone at the far edge, but here it doesn't work on that edge, so I need to be conscious about using it in the middle.

Slightly annoying: My cool pad has been rendered useless right now. With this new notebook the angle of the laptop is horrible and the traveler coolpad introduces wrist fatigue when using it at my kitch table. So I need to put it away for now and look for a new/different solution. Suggestions wanted.

So far so good. Waiting for more apps to support the pinch and zoom.

Never used a CoolPad before. Don't know why you would need it with the Alu MacBook anyway, unless you're raising it to improve typing height, which seems to be the case.

You really can't tell the real battery life until you've charged/recharged it a couple of times... But mine is down to 46min/23% right now, with Safari and Firefox open, Itunes playing, keys lit over 50%, screen brightness 80%, playing Tetris and installing a bunch of widgets. I think it'll end up being well over 4 hours, maybe close to 5. I've also watched a number of videos on youtube and hulu... I have to say i'm impressed.

I only have good things to say about my MB so far...
:apple:I LOVE the sound of these speakers and the brightness of the screen.
:apple:I have NO PROBLEM with the glossy screen.
:apple:The lack of keyboard lighting was a problem last night as I was trying to type in a dark room, but today on the 2.4 model it's fabulous. I'm glad i got this.
:apple: i find myself not using the actualy CLICKING of the trackpad so much, and i quite often use the Four-finger gestures. Two finger scrolling is also not an issue for me, as there is SOO MUCH ROOM on this trackpad :D
:apple:battery life like i said above, so far so good..
:apple:battery cover - just a little loose on this one but good enough.

Overall, i'm impressed... my old Toshiba with Vista would've been through 2 battery charges by now :D

Looks great! Very thorough.

I'm curious, how many of you have upgraded to the 4GB RAM? I think 2GB is fine for me right now, and will save the upgrade for a later bonus.

I bought this in Best Buy today just to have something when i'm sitting in bed, or want the MB in my lap.. It works great so far and keeps the temps about 5-10C lower than before.... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8488745&type=product&id=1186003682035

Ordered my first ever apple computer when I ordered my 2.4 on keynote day. I received it 18 hours later and I only have one word: awesome.

The only sad thing is that I miss Free Cell and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to install XP/Vista and VM just to play a card game. :( Luckily I still have my old Dell XPS laptop if the urge ever comes back.

Back to the macbook, did I mention the word awesome, yet?

DAMMIT! all these people keep switching back to windows for the free cell, when will you learn Jobs!?!?!

:p

Ill post again probably around february, when I have the funds to join your ranks. Till then, this toshiba will have to do :(

So I found one dead pixel on my new MB.

It's not the biggest deal in the world, but I'm debating on whether I should try for an exchange. Everything else seems perfect. The dead pixel is about 3 inches from the center of the screen in the right corner.

The Apple store isn't nearby, so I don't know that I want to drive all the way out there only to be denied an exchange, or given a machine with much worse defects.

(PS, I freaking LOVE this keyboard. I've used the chiclet keyboards before, but the new MB's just feels so soft and awesome!)

If it's really bothering you, return it. If more dead pixels start appearing, then return it.

Really, a laptop at this price shouldn't have any defects.... but then again.....

If you return it, and get a worse one, return it again. Remember: it's not your fault :D

I can officially post in this thread now! I hope I get it by the 23rd...here's to hoping!

Whatever happened to Apple? Free Cell will be the downfall of this company!

OT: Great avatar!

Best Buy Protection or Apple Care?!?

What do you guys have for your MB? Which one do you think is better? I've yet to purchase extended warranty, and i have 14 days to get it at Best buy, or obviously, 1 year to get it with Apple.
What do you think?

Any one have any experience with Square Trade? I got a 3 year warranty with Accidental Coverage incase I drop it or something spills on it for only 50% off at $187. I went with Square Trade over AppleCare because of the accidental coverage.

firefox with bunch of tabs open
itunes running playing music in the bg..

i get around 61c...

is this normal?

ppl's been getting only around 54...

is this normal?

Picked up mine on Saturday, very happy with it! - No problems at all. It's a 2.4 - with printer and ipod.
