Oh man, I love mine, after going from the early 2007 MacBook, to the mid-2007 iMac, and now the alum 2.4 MacBook, I have finally found a comp that is, in my mind, perfect. Just wanted to throw my thoughts in, thanks Apple!

What do you guys have for your MB? Which one do you think is better? I've yet to purchase extended warranty, and i have 14 days to get it at Best buy, or obviously, 1 year to get it with Apple.
What do you think?

Personally, I would always go for the warrenty from Apple, better customer service, and most likely more protection/options for you if anything were to ever happen to your new investment...But that is just my two cents.

coleman17, great choice! I also agree choosing Apple for service support. Besides, you can postpone buying AppleCare for a year, which is not an inconsiderable advantage in this day and age of tight money. ;)

I picked up one from the glasgow store yesterday just a basic 2Ghz one to replace my 5 year old windows laptop(been using Mac desktops for a few years now)

Absolutley loving it so much better than my old laptop 2mins to setup and everything working perfectley. Seem to be lucky and have none of the probems mentioned in the forum. Best bit of computer kit i have bought and i didn't think the iMac i got last year could be beaten

picked my 2.0 up on friday from the trafford centre store
its lovely
not quite got all my software on it yet, but getting there!

applecare bestbuy warranty is crap

Well, i've never had an issue with Best Buy warranty in the past, i've owned two laptops with their protection plan. So from that perspective it was all good.
HOWEVER, i do like the idea of waiting until my current year is over and THEN just getting apple care... it makes sense.

Can I just tell you guys how impressed I am? I just went outside with a couple of friends and angled the screen all different ways and positioned it opposite from the sunlight AND exactly in the sunlight, and i can still see EVERYTHING on here!!
I don't know what others are experiencing, but the combination of LED/glossy is AMAZING!! Everybody i've shown it to has said it look very high class.

Once again, I find myself LOVING this :apple: thing even MORE!! :)

Welcome U.K. owners! :) Glad to hear that the MacBook is shipping in jolly good England. :D

Time for the venn diagram again:

Just got mine (2,4/250/4) My first mac, so this evening has been confusing and interesting. But I am starting to get the hang of it. Now only problem is that my work laptop is a vista... so I guess Iam going to be constantly confused and unable to use either systems..... helpdesk here I come.

Only thing I miss from the PC world, page down/up button, but maybe I'll get used to it.

Some of the things that are really positive in my experience.

Backlit keyboard, display(BRIGHT), silence, no stupid fan in the botton that chokes if I put it on something soft, mousepad/multifinger system, fast start time oh and plus everything works (now!, not maybe after many minutes).

And one more thing, the sound that it makes when i close the lid - sounds like when closing the door ina a luxury (think german) car , not like a POS cheap korean car (PC/HP).

Small things but they add up, I havent lost my temper with it the whole evening, and that has been a rare ocassion in the PC/HP world....

I bought one, too. Ordered it directly after they were introduced. I've started a new study this year and figured I would be a thief of my own money if I didn't buy one. Especially now with the Back To School promotion. Not the overly generous US BTS program, but I still got a welcome €125 discount on a €139 8GB iPod nano. That, combined with a 12% educational discount (my University has a Campus Online Store), made me want and actually buy one.

The thing is, I've never owned a laptop before. Have no idea at all how and even if I will like it. Until now I've only owned iMacs. In fact, I'm typing this on a mid 2007 2,8GHz 24" aluminium iMac. It'll be interesting to see which will be used more, once I get the MacBook. It's projected delivery date is the 3rd of November, or else the 4th. I'm hoping it'll be the 4th, because I believe that would mean that Obama would win. Don't live in the US (I live in Europe), but man, do I want (and most everyone here across the pond) Obama to win these elections!

EDIT: I'm technically not the owner of an aluminum MacBook, but rather of an aluminium one.

Lets hope that Apple risolves ASAP....

hope you risolve all of you :)
I have no idea at all what to risolve is, but I happily hope with you that Apple does it to all of us! :D

Only thing I miss from the PC world, page down/up button, but maybe I'll get used to it.
Code:
Home : COMMAND ([color=red][b]⌘[/b][/color]) + UP ([color=red][b]▲[/b][/color])
Page up : OPTION ([color=red][b]⌥[/b][/color]) + UP ([color=red][b]▲[/b][/color])
Page down : OPTION ([color=red][b]⌥[/b][/color]) + DOWN ([color=red][b]▼[/b][/color])
End : COMMAND ([color=red]⌘[/color]) + DOWN ([color=red][b]▼[/b][/color])

Crap, I've been a Mac user for years, but even I didn't know that ^^.

Oh, leave the poster alone -- not a native English speaker should explain that. :)

Silence is golden. Or aluminum?

Had a question for all of the new MB owners that mention the "quietness" of the computer. Just how "quiet" are we talking, here? On mine, I hear a constant soft fan sound... nothing loud, but definitely not "dead silent". Is this normal? I've already grown so attached to my MB ("Bruno" ^_^), but with the $$ paid for it, I expect nothing but perfection. ;)

You can't hear anything, it's dead silent. Obviously, a high-quality fan and the brick design mute the fan. When you're doing something intensive, you can hear air exiting from the rear. You may have sensitive hearing! :)

Aw, shucks. On the contrary, I have hearing probs. So that's def. not a good sign. As is the fact that my SO's old iBook G4 is silent as a cat. Many thanks for the heads up!

And besides, i'm spending even more money with them, right?! :) Off to the store it is in the morning!! I really hope those lights and the extra 400hz will be fun. Who's got them right now and is enjoying them??

That's odd. We're suppose to have a no hassle 14 day return policy... so as long as you have everything that it came with, and you don't damage it in anyway. You can get a full refund and walk away with your money and not buy another laptop from them.

That's what a friend of mine did last year. He bought a MBP, and 13 days later there was a notebook refresh. He returned it on the 13th day and bought a new one two days later.... :D

Sold my Black MacBook on eBay and bought the new Alum 2.4 Ghz. I love it! I do miss the firewire, I wasn't aware that the new MB's didn't have it. Nothing big though. I just used a USB Cable to my External HD to get the Time Machine data.
This is a great computer. :D

Sad GlassBook Owner

I'm a proud owner of a shiny new 2.4ghz MacBook that I bought on Friday. I drove a total of 200 miles(round trip) to pick it up at my closest Apple Store (I live in Oregon). Problem is that I'm a student and since this is midterm week, I have yet to take out the poor MacBook from its box because I've been stuck in the library for days :(. LOL.....I Hate School!

A-N-T-I-C-I-P-A-T-I-O-N! It's like foreplay. The unboxing will be sooooo good! :p :D

If you just want to return it, apple stores will charge you the 10% restocking fee. Once you buy it, they're going to take your money. You can get an exchange, but never a refund.

Need Help With Genuis

Hi,
I downloaded Genuis and it wiped out a lot of the songs in my library. Most of my emusic files can no longer be found. Any suggestions other than screaming?

Thanks,
Geoff::
